The ambulance carrying Lexi and her father is already at the hospital. The nurses rushed her to the emergency room and immediately placed the nasal cannula. Likewise, they monitored her blood pressure and pulse rate. She was now stable and was breathing normally.

The convoy of Anton and Evelyn arrived after twenty minutes. Mrs. Towers dashed to see her sleeping daughter. Meanwhile, Mike came out to meet Anton at the lobby of St. Mary's Hospital.

"How's my godchild, Mike?" he queried. "Cole's coming over too. By the way,  I really apologize if things got out of hand with my son and Lexi."

"Lexi's out of the woods, thank God!" he wiped his face with a plain blue hankie. " And about them. Evelyn's right compadre. Cole is a fine man and if there's one guy I'd want for Lexi, it will definitely be him. I was just damn worried about my daughter. I'm sorry too." he lightly tapped his back.

Their conversation was interrupted by a ruckus coming from the nurse aides who were pushing a stretcher in. On it was a man who's face was all covered with blood. He was barely recognizable and was immobile too. From the looks of it, he was in a terribly bad shape.

Anton heard from one of the aides that the guy met a motorcycle accident at highway 22. He felt his heart skip a beat at the thought as Cole was on a motorcycle too. He was supposed to dial his number when the phone rang.

"H-Hello? Anton Edwards speaking. I-I'm sorry who's this?!" he clarified as it was breaking in and out.

"This is officer Marvin Easter of the highway patrol group. We just wanna let you know that a certain Cole John Edwards met an accident at highway 22 and he was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital. How are you related to this boy? You're listed as his emergency contact." he interrogated.

"W-What?!! You must be kidding officer! He's my son!"

Mike was surprised by the sudden rise in his voice. He waited with bated breath for their conversation to end. He can sense horror in Anton's voice. When the call ended, he saw tears well in his eyes.

"Mike, Cole had an accident and he's here. I have to find my son!!" he tried to relax but it's failing.

"I understand. Let's go find him."

The two went back to the emergency room where Lexi is. They found Cole right next to her. He was being resuscitated. A defibrillator was being used to reset the electrical state of his heart so that it may beat again.

"Doctor, I'm his dad!" Anton broke down in tears as soon as he saw his son who's face was drenched with blood.

"Clear!" the doctor yelled again before administering a jolt of electricity to Cole's lifeless body. After a few tries, he let out a deep sigh and shook his head. "Time of death...12:35pm."

"Wai---What? Doc, this can't be happening! Please, try it again doctor, please!!" Anton begged the doctor but the latter explained the situation. Mike was trying to calm his friend.

"Your son suffered serious trauma on his head and neck and was practically dead on arrival. but as an SOP, we still had to resuscitate the patient. Again, I'm sorry."

"Cooolleee! Son c'mon! You can't leave just like that!!!" Anton was left alone with his son while Mike went to his wife on the other side. Lexi was still sleeping because of her medication.

"Baby, Cole met an accident...he's gone!" Mike shed a tear upon delivering the bad news to his wife.

"What do you mean!? God! This is crazy, Mike! Too much...just too much!" she sobbed heavily.

She thought: How will Lexi take this!? She can't afford a heartbreak with her condition like that!

The couple hugged each other for comfort. They couldn't believe the series of unfortunate events they're experiencing at this time.

Too much...just too much!
