Audrey's POV
"For tonight's homework, the multi-step equation: distributive property and adding linear expression worksheets should be on my desk tomorrow with your work on a separate sheet of paper for each of the worksheets," Mrs.Johnson said standing in front of the board before giving the class a few minutes of free time before the bell. Lucky for me, I took a head start on my homework when it was handed out a few days ago which leaves with less work on my plate when I get home. By the time the bell rang, I grab my bag and headed out the classroom into the crowded hallways of students leaving for the end of the day. While I'm walking down the hallway my friends Brooklynn and Jayla waited near the lockers.

Jayla
"Man, I'm glad its the end of the day 'cause Miss Colin's history class got me catchin' z's." Jayla exaggerated while we walk down the hallway towards the doors."I know that's right." I chimed.
"Y'all got any plans Friday night?" Brooklyn asked.
"Besides homework, no" I answered.
"Nothin' on my end," Jayla replied.
"I'm havin' a little party at my house and it's gone to be lit."
"Uh, do your folks know that you throwin' a party, Brook?"
"Yeah, they'll be out for a while or so while my cousin Sonya watches me."
"I have to check in with my folks with that," Jayla said.
"Same here with my Dad," I said before opening one of the doors.
Once in front of the schoolhouse, a black lincoln navigator is a park near the entrance.
"Well, my ride here. See y'all tomorrow." I said to them before walking towards the SUV.
"See ya girl." They said.

As I finish up my homework, one of the maids knocked on my bedroom door to inform me that my father wants me downstairs for dinner.
"Your father wanted to let you know that dinner will be ready in ten minutes."
"Okay, thank you."
After she leaves, I. freshened up and headed downstairs into the dining room. As I sit and wait for him, I begin to wonder if Dad has ever been to a party before. Speaking of him, he walked into the dining room greeting the staff before sitting at the table. Tonight's dinner is cheesy vegetarian potato soup with cheddar. I started adjusting to not eating meat since Dad's a vegetarian, meat is off-limits in Paisley Park.
"How's school kiddo?" Dad asked."Same ole' same ole'" I answered.
"Did anything fun happen?"
"There's nothing fun with doing homework, taking tests, and doing assignments or projects every day." I chuckled.
"What about art and chorus, there's fun in those."
"Okay, there's fun in them out of all my other classes."
"It'll be worth it at the end." He assured.
I hope so. I thought. It was silent for a while so I've asked him what's been on my mind. Well here goes nothin'.
"Dad can I ask you something," I asked.
"Sure, what's on your mind?" He said giving me his undivided attention.
"Well, one of my friends, Brooklyn, is having a little party this Friday, and not only I'm asking if I can go, but I'm also asking if you ever been to a party before." I carefully explained.
"To answer your first question, who all is attending Brooklyn's little party?" He questioned before taking a sip of his glass of water.
"Jayla and Brook's cousin Sonya, she's watching over her while her parents go out for a few hours."
"I'll need to have a conversation with Brooklyn's parents to see if it's okay for you to go."
"Okay, I'll let her know," I said before finishing my soup.
"And yes I've been to a party before. Been to tons of them back in my day."
"What was it like?" I curiously asked.
"Fun. Memorable. Wild." He smiles at memories.
"Wild?"
"In other words, doing things teenagers have no business doing at an unsupervised party."
"Like what?"
"We'll talk about that later because it's that kind of stuff that would a bit too much."
"Okay." I nodded.
After we finished dinner, we walked to my room. Dad told me he'll come to check on me after he finishes doing work in the studio. As I get ready for bed, I begin to think about what Dad said about teenagers my age doing wild things. I wondered what he meant by things teenagers shouldn't do. Well, who am I to say 'cause I have never been to a party.
