________________________________"She says this is a fresh start. Why does it feel like I'm still running from the past?"
Pellets of water ambushed the car. The only sounds were the rain hitting the roof and the windshield wipers furiously pushing the water away.
"Monday is a full moon," she says. Her auburn hair leaning against the car door. Looking down out the window she watched the rainwater cover the roads making the asphalt shine. In the puddles on the ground danced the reflection of the trees that seemed to run on for miles. Nothing like a creepy forest to welcome you to the neighborhood. She thought.
"That's perfect. We can go out and work on your control," the woman in the driver's seat replies.
"I'm not like you mom." the auburn haired girl responds turning to face the driver "I can't learn. I have issues..." she trails off.
"I'm your mother Hope, your issues are my issues." She glances over at her worried daughter.
"When you said we were moving to California this... is not what I expected," Hope spoke up, drawing lines in the foggy window her stringy silver bracelet moving with her hand. "But it's nice. It's quiet." she adds.
"I'm gonna miss New Orleans." her mom begins. "The people. The music. The food."
"Definitely the food. I hear they only eat healthy in California. Like those green juices and stuff," Hope says with a taste of disgust.
"Gross!" Her mom laughs. "We're almost at the house," she adds.
"Yeah I know, it's starting to get familiar." They have been traveling back and forth during the move to transport all their luggage. As inconvenient as it might have seemed Hope enjoyed it. Each time she'd came to the new house she knew she'd be going back home to New Orleans. This however was the final trip.
They were long past the woods and now in their neighborhood. The houses were decently sized. But held no comparison to the Mikaelson mansion back home. Located in the suburban neighborhood was a park, bank, post office and a fairly large supermarket. A few blocks away was an elementary school and a few miles further a High School.
This was different from the large city of New Orleans she was so familiar with. According to her mom there was even an insane asylum a couple miles from town. A complete opposite from the bustling city and celebrity mansions known to NOLA.
Her mom even informed her there is a town sheriff. The small town was starting to resemble Mystic Falls. Just a little. It's not like vampires and werewolves are running around this little town.
The mother-daughter duo would be taking residence in a two-story house with three large bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a small basement. Said house was one away from the block's corner leaving it a small front yard and slightly more spacious backyard.
"What's the name of the town again?" Hope glances at her mom.
"Beacon Hills," her mom responds making a left turn.
"Beacon Hills." Hope repeats.
------------------------------------------"Ugh, I have nothing to wear!" Hope groans ruffling through her closet.
"You still haven't unpacked everything sweetheart. Ask Hayley," A thick English-sounding accent said through the computer screen on Hope's desk.
Hope was currently conversing with her Aunt Rebekah as she sorted out some new school outfits.
