Chapter Seven

Mirabel's POV

I heard Nicole and Belinda yell my name

Akua will escort him because he can't carry the water and the pastries all by himself.
I gave them the,  I  will kill you glare.
I then heard all of them insisting that I go with him, he stared at me. On our way to the Mini mart  to get the water and pastries, we didn't even speak to each other. I didn't like the idea of going with him but it was a good time to apologize . And I didn't know how to start.
We got to the place.

I think this their mini mart, he said
I nodded in response.

"Stay here and let me get the water and pastries together."

"Okay."

I decided to sit down on the bench and wait for him to come when I saw two girls walking towards me. I didn't really bother to look at them. My leg mistakenly tripped one of them and she nearly hit her head on the bench, the other girl then started to rain insult on me, I felt sad and was about to cry.
I apologized but they still continued to rain  insults on me whiles making their way into the mini mart.

"Hey let's go," Alexander said.
I got up and we left.
He bought only a bag of water.

"I didn't get the two bags of water. I even bought the last one." he said
I kept quiet and I am sure he noticed that I had tears in my eyes.

Hey, he turned my face to look at him
"Why are there tears in your eyes."

Nothing, I replied
I will be okay

"No, you won't , and I will not allow you to go back there and let them think I did something to you or we are not leaving here."

Am okay, I insisted
He then placed the water on the floor and went to sit on a stone.

"Okay am not leaving here"

Uuuhhhmmm, this guy is so annoying but I couldn't tell him.

"Hey please lets go, the bus will soon be around."
He didn't even mind me.

Okay fine, you see those two girls who just entered the mini mart.

Yes , he replied

I explained everything that happened  to him. 

"Ah, stupid!!, she is the one who has to apologize because she even stepped on you,"

He really looked angry, He went back to the mini mart to confront the girls, I  tried to stop him but it was to late. He crashed his hand on the table on which the girls were sitting and taking their snacks.

"Hey, listen to me", he was talking to the girls,

"I won't allow you insult my girl,you stepped on her and instead of you to apologize , you rained  insults on her, Ah no, I really thought you girls are decent but I was wrong, you girls lack manners.
Hey don't you dare do that again, even if you meet her anywhere."

"Have I made myself clear", he screamed at them.

They nodded in a fearful manner in response.

He then held my  hand and said we should  go.
I deciphered that the girls wanted to give him a piece of their mind but the way he approached them in a furious manner,  got them scared.

I was surprised, like really surprised.
I couldn't stop looking at him, when we were going to meet up with the others at the assembly hall. He noticed it

Why, he asked

Nothing, but I  just can't believe that you did that for me.
He smiled.

Like , I'm serious, I told him

"Oh so I can't defend you"

"No, not that!!
I embarrassed you at school the other day  and you still turn up to defend me, why aren't you angry. You have all the right to be."

"Hey, for that I am really angry at you, but I can't just stand and do nothing when I see my friends being embarrassed or humiliated."

I couldn't look at him, because I was ashamed of myself, someone I embarrassed and humiliated in front of everyone didn't give up on me but defended me. It  is indeed good to be nice to everyone.

"Hey Alexander, I'm really sorry for what happened the other day."

He turned to look at me, and smiled

"You made me look like a fool that day," he said

"I am ashamed of what I did, that's  why I'm sorry, please accept my apology. What can I do to make it up to you."

He looked at me with mischief in his eyes.

"You never mind that's  in the past, so you forget, I just want us to get along and be friends, you know we act like we don't even know each other."

Yeah, I smiled

"No offense, you act bossy and tough but you are really soft on the inside", he said

We both burst into laughter.

'Hey, Ice cream, lets go get some,"

With  whose money, please don't tell me it's  Mr. Sarpong's balance.

Oh no, why will I do that, You remember, when Eugenia and Sheena gave me money for pastries.

"Yes, I replied giving him a smile"

"Yes, We will use it"

Wait a minute, What if they ask, I asked raising my eyebrows at him

Don't worry, my family is full of story tellers and I am the best at it,  he said with a mischievous smirk on his face.

That made me laugh.

He got me  yoghurt and got himself fan ice. We spoke for a long time before we got to our friends, and it was really amusing, he is funny, nice and caring.

When we got there, everyone was looking at us, in a surprised manner
We gave them the water and Alexander explained to Mr. Sarpong why we delayed and why we couldn't get two bags of water.

Alexander, our balance, Eugenia and Sheena blurted.

Errh, Akua what even happened, he said looking at me, I saw he  was thinking about something to tell them.

Yes, the jam rolls, a slice of it in this school is worth a cedi.

Eeeeeeeei, since when, they both screamed

Oh, hmm, they think we are at Madam Catherine's shop where everything is cheap.  I supported him

Oh, Yes oooo, shaking his head.

They didn't believe us but they stop bickering with us.
I told you, Don't worry, speaking in an Italian accent.

We both burst into laughter, which made everyone look at us. He turned his face looking somewhere and I also covered my mouth to prevent them for seeing that I was laughing. I knew everyone was surprise that,Alexander and I were good.

Our bus came and we entered, we were all happy that we were going back to school, in the bus Fred also continued by making our day.

Hey girl, how did this happen, Belinda and Nicole asked, whiles boring holes in me with their eyes.

What happened, I asked

First,we told you to apologize and  next we see is that , both of you are laughing as if nothing really happened between the two of you. It really looked liked you guys were....... 

Oh no, I hit my hand on my face, am exhausted,  I will tell you girls later.

Okay oooo. They replied.

We got to the school around seven thirty, Martin prayed and we got down from the bus and went to the dinner hall to have our evening meal, after that we went for evening studies(PREPs) .
