Coming Home

My friend and spotter Nick looks at me an says. "How hard was it for you not to tell her that your coming home." He says with a grin on his face."It was hard, like I can see how bad she misses me." I reply to Nick as I he hands me a beer. "Yeah I know how hard it is, I was trying so hard not to tell my wife this morning as well." He says back with a slight smile.

Caleb-- "So what time are we gonna be leaving? does anyone know yet." I say as I look around the table that my team an I are at.

then my team member Thomas says.

"I think its gonna me around the middle of the night here when we leave, so by the time we get back home it'll be around 12:00 o'clock."

Caleb-- "Okay then, let's get to work an get ready to go home guys. An one more time for the guys we've lost." an then all at the same time me an my hole team yell. "HOORAAH." And then we all go to the humvee's and start doing our daily patrol in the surrounding towns.

Thomas-- "It's funny how even though we're trying to help these people an they fuckin hate us for it."

Nick-- "I hear you on that one Thomas, let's just hurry up an get out of here Caleb." Nick says with a grin, an then I look at him an can tell he's feeling uneasy about something

Caleb-- "Alright you two, we'll leave." and then I start driving back to the base. Soon after we get pack it's already starting to get time to leave, so we all go to the barracks an start packing up all of our gear. An then I hear my phone ringing an it's Emilie.

Caleb-- "hey babe, you on break?" I ask her with a smile on my face.

Emilie-- "Yeah, I figured I'd call you an see how things are."

Caleb-- "I'm doing good babe, I'm gonna be getting on a plane here soon to go to another base."

Emilie-- "Oh, so I take it you'll be gone longer. I hope not." I can hear the pain in her voice as she says that.

Caleb-- "Yeah probably, but I don't know. I might be coming home soon. about another week or two."

Emilie-- "That"s a relief to hear baby, I miss you so much."

Caleb-- "I miss you so much too, babe I have to get off the phone here in a minute. I love you." I say with a smile on my face holding back tears of joy of being able to hold her close an to kiss you again.

Emilie-- "Okay baby, I love you too." then we hang up an I finish packing up my stuff. An then I meet up with my team outside of the barracks. an we all give each other hand shakes an brother hugs. A little bit later the plane arrives an we all start loading everything onto the plane.
