Run, Run, RUN! The village around me blurs. I look back, the merchants are still chasing me, I hear them yelling nasty words, but tune them out until a name catches my ear. "Wantana, chase that thief". Wantana. The son of the merchant, he won the junior Telonian olympics and I've seen his muscles when he was swimming in a village lake. Almost on cue after that thought, a boy with curly brown hair is on my tail and grabs my neck and pushes me to the ground. His hand is still around my neck as I struggle to loosen his grip. His hands are too thick, and his arms are too strong. The box is in my left hand but, I need both arms to have even close to enough strength to remove his hand. The box falls about 3 centimeters and when the older merchants catch up to us, they take it. The older man shouts to Wantana, "Take him to the house, and lock him in any room, he has stolen other items, but we need to get back to the customers, there is a long line currently." Wantana nods and drags me to a house. My eyes are closed from the pain so I can't see where which direction we're headed...

"Hey! Wake up" Wantana's voice forces my eyes open and I see him standing in front of a shut door with his arms crossed. His tall body leans against the door. I touch my neck. It still feels like his hand is there. I get up off of the carpeted floor and look at him. I raise one eyebrow then I think of what to say as my mind slowly re-captures the event. "I haven't stolen anything else" I lie. I still have the box of matches in the pocket of my cargo pants. "Don't speak to me." he snaps almost immediately. "Don't act as if we're equal. You were always lower than my family, but now that you stole from us 3 times, you've hit rock bottom. We'll be back after the end of this shift. Don't you Dare leave!" and he opens the door and locks it. I hear him walk through the hallway to the front door and outside to return to the shop I assume. I shake my head in disbelief of what just happened. I've been stealing for 6 years now, I've never been caught. I wonder if I got less sleep night. I shake those thoughts and look around the room. "Looks like an office." There is a big black chair behind a desk with some probably expensive wood. On  the wall there is a photo of 3 merchants, one of them being the old man. They're holding a certificate, I can't read the writing but I see the Telonian crest, must be a national prize. I see a window. I hear foot steps. "Its been 2 minutes, they can't be back already..." "Hello??" I didn't remember any of the merchants being female. I look outside at the window, there is a girl there. She has long strawberry blond hair tied in a loose braid. She has glasses, and wears a blue sweater with black pants. Her shoes are torn. Her hands covered in her black gloves are calmly at her side. She speaks again."Hello?!, I heard noises. Like you were in pain..." "Noises?" "Yeah, you were grunting for the past minute, non-stop." I was? How come I didn't even notice. "O-oh..well, why are you talking to me?" "I saw the men drag you in here..." "Did you hear why?" "Yeah, you stole something, anyways do you need help?" "Doesn't it...erm bother you?" "What would bother me?" "No...I mean, doesn't it make you uncomfortable to be talking to a criminal?" "For stealing a few blankets? Well, it doesn't affect me that you're a criminal, I just know you want to get out." "But I stole from them, most would think of me as mean." "I'm in the village yet my clothes are years old, do I seem like most?" "You have a point" "Anyways, if you were really aiming to get rich for stealing like jewelry or something, you would've. Jewelry is much easier to sneak off. Much less bulky blankets!" "I- uh, yes...I guess, well if you're here to help I need to get out..without being seen." "Stand away from the door, and turn your back too." Although i'm skeptical, she gives off a different feeling than those greedy merchants. I hear glass breaking behind me. When I turn back, the window is broken and I see a very sharp pocket knife in her hand. "God...I have always wanted to do that." I am a little surprised but, I am 100% sure there are plenty of more surprises to come from this girl; possibly in the near future. The house is on the highest part of the village; the most expensive. It is actually perpendicular to the mayor's house. As I crawl out the window, I am now at the same level as her. She's quite tall, almost as tall as I am. My eyes look at hers and she nods. We start running towards the forest. Somehow we got that feeling like, this is what we need to do. I've heard that this happens with good friends, but we're still considered strangers. I see the forest up ahead, and my eyes become weak. My muscles aren't tense anymore and I'm at ease. The forest does this to me. We walk through the short, narrow cave to the first entrance to the spring. The old explorers called this YuksaCan (Spider Cave.) "Um, girl...?" I say as she walks through the shallow water to the exit of the spring. She turns back to me, as if I'm a bother. "You mean me? Well, who else would you be talking to so, yeah me. Oh..Sorry um Yes?" "The village is that way." "I don't live in the village." "You're in the gangs?!" I ask knowing the answer. "They don't even allow girls..." "So...we're both homeless." "No, I'm not homeless." She then smiles, but theres something off about it. The smile isn't real. Its hiding something. Like she's holding back her emotions. I frown at the sight but she is already gone up the path, deeper into the forest.

{Author's Note

Hello, friends :).

Today I finished my first chapter of the story (obviously.) It's my first time ever writing a story on Wattpad, so I hope it's going well. Don't be afraid to give me suggestions. I've always wanted to write a great book, and I can't without suggestions on Grammar, Spelling, and even the Characters. Your ideas could continue to make this story grow into maybe once becoming big. That dream is quite far from now, but See you Friday for the next Update.

Story updates every Tuesday and Friday.

I appreciate you supporting me through this journey.

Wherever you are in the world, have a great night or day. :)

Adios d^.^b
