{Hello, Friends!
I decided to do something exciting.
Every chapter, I will be giving a little spoiler for the next one.
Kind of like a TV show, how the preview of the next episode starts playing once one has finished the episode they are on.
I hope you will like that, and it will boost your anxiety in waiting for the next chapter/update.
Lets get back to the story :)
}
We smile and joke throughout the night, sharing stories about being homeless together. It is quite relaxing. But then, I wake up on his chest. I jump up and look, we're both in the tent next to each other. He's sleeping vertically, and my body was laying on his chest in another direction. How did this happen? I try to remember what happened last night, so I explained to him the story behind my parents, and exchanged stories, names. If we had a phone then, we probably would have exchanged phone numbers too. I think of how to wake him up. Do I tap him? Where should I tap him? I think of his head, his shoulder, his hand. What wakes me up? I Wait, if I do that will he think it's weird? After a few minutes of deciding, I go over to him with my two hands, and pinch his cheeks. One time, at a interview I fell asleep during the meeting, and that's how he woke me up. He flinches then his eyes widen. "Katherine? Is it you?" Katherine who is she? Also a name in english. He pushes my back towards him as I start to worry. I speak, "Sebastian! what's wrong?! what are you doing?!" He continues, and I have fallen horizontally over him. He moves a little and smiles. "Katherine you're back! Never leave again." He pulls my face even lower until I flick his forehead and he sits up immediately. "Kristine why are you on top of me" Flustered, I get up and explain. "I- You like pushed me until I fell on top of you, then smiled. You called me Katherine." "Katherine?" His eyes widen and his eyebrows lower, making him look like an angry comic character. "D-did I say something wrong?" I ask. "Was I awake? When I did this?" "I thought you were, but maybe you were still dreaming." "Dreaming? oh.. well sorry about that" He says then gets up. "Do you have food?" "Have you forgotten I'm also homeless?" "Oh right, sorry sleeping with a roof– even a fabric ones seems so different." "Do you sleep on the ground?" "Yeah, I do." Oh gods, the forest floor is pretty hard soil. "I do actually have food Sebastian, if you go to the back of the tent where I showed you the notebook last night, you will find some packaged foods. Believe it or not I still have money left over from that job." I say. He nods then goes to check out the food. My hands cover my rosy cheeks as I feel they are still hot and flustered. I cover my entire face with my hands and say accidentally, "ugh, I can't ask him to stay here...he will probably question if I was telling the truth about that Katherine thing. Besides, I only have one tent, what if I end up sleeping on his chest again." "So?" "YOU HEARD THAT" I yell, then cover my mouth. I hold the back of my neck, embarrassed. "You slept on my chest last night?" "N-No! I didn't. I uh...yes I don't know why." "Kristine it's only been a couple weeks haha." "Huh?" "Never mind" he says and winks. "Anyways let's eat." "Together?" I ask. "Yeah, why not, we're friends now." How can he just decide that...with no shame. I smile at the thought, friends, with somebody. We sit down at the logs, this time he's sitting next to me on the same log instead of last night where he sat in front of me, on a different log. "Will you finally tell me how you got here?" He then smirks and says, "I already told you, I need to hear more about you ;)" I frown, then we both start laughing. "Ok, I will tell you. It's kind of graphic though." "My life is 'kind of graphic' " I say while doing finger-quotes. He smiles but then the smile quickly fades. "It's serious though, so no laughin'!" I raise my eyebrows biting my tongue, but I end up laughing anyways. "Kristy! Stop!" he says while smiling. "Kristy?" "Can I call you that, Kristine is too long." "Your name is longer than mine..." "Yes, but I never need to say my name, unless I am introducing myself. I will have to say your name every time I see you :)." "Hmmm how about friend!" "Friend?" "Yeah, try it" I say, positively. "ok... uh Hi, Friend" I smile. "I like it." "Hmm I don't... its too generic." "Well you can find something to call me once we get to know each other more." He looks a little disappointed. Did I say something wrong? "Oh right, we have only met for 2 weeks. For some reason, I feel like I've already spent years with you, and it's also like I know you better than anyone." "That's interesting, because I have a similar feeling. I say and smile, which gets him to smile back. "Anyways you were saying?" "Oh.. about my past. Well we'll be here for a while now I guess. I grew up in Telonia City." "Telonia City?! That is so far!" "Yes, anyways, I have a sister, a brother and two parents. A pretty average family. My brother and younger sister went to Duarta to live with my aunt, because my brother, was studying at Duarta's Telonian University–Campus, and my sister was going because I guess she wanted to, she never really told me why. Anyways, it was the day that my brother and sister came back. My sister came first because my brother had his senior college midterms, and had to come home late. It was about 8 pm, and my mom asked me to put the kerosine we were using as a lighting tool, for our celebratory bond fire, in the room where there were no items that could catch on fire. I didn't know why Kerosine was needed, it was around 9 years ago so I was 7. The room was in the basement through the stairs which was crawling with bugs. I hated them so much, I would almost pass out as a kid, I deal with them better now, but I still get scared." I smile, cute. He continues. "So I put the kerosine on the front porch. There was a huge oak tree near the porch of the house. When I opened and shut the front door to enter the house, it hit the jug of Kerosine which got poured onto the oak tree, and started quite a big fire. During the night my brother returned and drunk. He later told me he was partying with his friends for finishing the midterms. They got very drunk and he was kind of high too i think, I don't know if he had as many drugs as alcohol, but it was obvious he wasn't himself. He saw the fire, and i don't know I guess went near it; not being able to think correctly. I don't know what happened until I heard "MOM, DAD HELP!" He was yelling because his tie go caught on one of the branches. The fire was spreading fast too. My parents...both died in that accident. My brother made it but they both jumped in front as the fire was approaching. My dad helped my brother undo the tie, but the flames caught hold of their clothing just as my brother was running away. My brother was so mad at me, and himself he left the next morning; also hungover." My eyes look at my hands which are flat on my lap. The log was pretty low, so my knees were bent, and I rested my head on them as I study Sebastian's body language while he's telling me everything. "I chased after him leaving my sister behind. I ran all the way here. He's actually apart of the gangs now. I heard originally they didn't let him in, but after hearing the story, I guess the gangs empathized? I don't know how gangs think, but they took him in. He told me everything after I was homeless and stealing for a couple months. He was so mad at me, he couldn't even stay sane every time we crossed paths. I'm sure he hates himself more though, which is why I don't blame him, while I blame myself more." "Did your parents die in the fire?" "Uh...have you been listening?? Yeah they basically sacrificed their life." "No like, did you see them die?" "No the police and fire department took me and my sister to a little foster home which I eventually escaped from. Anyways, they took me away but I saw the ambulances taking my parents away." I look at him before I do anything. In books they always tell me, 'knowing how something works too young, can hurt you more than not knowing.' Is that the case here? Or was this just a child not following his parents' directions. He's looking at me, as if he's happy he told me. Slowly, very slowly you can start to see emotions behind those ocean eyes which have been tearing up while Sebastian was telling the story. You can see his mixed feelings, of happiness, sadness and anger. "I feel great for finally telling somebody that. Somebody who would listen that is. He says and smiles. Within those feelings, I am certain to say that I caused a little bit of the happiness he's feeling right now. It may be little, 0.5% of the sudden rush of joy, but I don't mind. I made this boy, who will be scarred for life happy, by just showing my presence to him. For the first time in a long time, I was proud of what I have been doing with my life.
{HEY FRIENDS!
So now we know what happened to both of them. (kind of.)

eventually, I promise.
For now, here is the spoiler of the next chapter.
" MY PARENTS DIED BECAUSE OF YOU SEBASTIAN."
My face turns as my brother screams at my little ball of sadness, he walks up to me, drunk, wooden bat in his hand. His face is scarred and angry until he hears a noise from the tree behind us.
"Your parents probably survived if the burns weren't too bad."
I hear Kristine say as she's leaning against the tree looking at the scene in front of her between my brother and I.
Au Revoir my friends :^)
