Ch.16

Narrator POV

Cuphead drove back to the apartment complex where the girls were staying with their mother. He let them out and gave the two each a kiss on their forehead and it was so painfully obvious they didn't want to leave the comfort of their father. He watched them walk over to their mother who began ranting about how she was tired and how they were inconsiderate of that. Cuphead got back into his car, Bendy in the passenger seat. Before he could start it Bendy spoke.

"Just let me talk Cuphead." He said and Cuphead looked ahead taking his hand off the key. He looked at him showing he was paying attention

"The last man I loved, he hurt me, to my soul." Bendy said looking down his voice becoming weak.

"We were together for 6 years and he told me it was over two days before his wedding." Bendy said his eyes becoming tearful and Cuphead furrowed his brows in shock.

"I trusted him, with everything, and I never felt so alone, and so stupid, and humiliated, in my life!" He exclaimed his voice breaking and Cuphead could feel his chest tighten hearing the sound of pain in his voice.

"And so I told myself not to think about you. But I couldn't cause I do all the time." Bendy said looking at him a tear falling down his cheek.

"So what are you saying?" Cuphead asked in a soft voice wanting to hear him say it.

"I'm saying that I've been running away from something that already happened. And I'm saying that I fell in love with you, Cuphead Inkwell, and I'm saying that I hope I'm not in this alone!" Bendy exclaimed his voice trembling as he looked at him with a serious look in his eyes. Cuphead shook his head looking back at him.

"You're not. You're not alone." He told him as Bendy let out a sigh a few more tears falling. Cuphead caressed his cheek in his hand and leaned towards him, giving him a sweet, and loving kiss wiping away his tears with his thumb.

The next court hearing it seemed that Bendy had it all in his favor with all the information he had and the preparation the two went through.

"Your honor, the children's own grandmother, their maternal grandmother at that, went down to child welfare, and prepared a written statement as to why the children should be placed with their father." Bendy said in a very serious tone and the judge asked for the papers which Bendy gladly handed him. Alice's lawyer asked if she knew about such things and she began to get mad.

"Look I don't know nothing about this, I don't know what they're trying to pull now." She said in an angry hushed tone as the judge looked at the papers.

"Your honor, my client has the means to take care of these girls and she wants to take care-" Her lawyer got cut off by the judge.

"It says here, that her own mother thought the means were ill-gotten." The judge remarked looking up from the papers and at her lawyer. He then turned his attention to her.

"Well that's-" He got cut off again.

"Mrs. Lawrence, what do you do for a living?" The judge asked her as she lost her words for a moment, not expecting to be asked that question.

"Well I don't work your honor, but my husband does." She told him trying to keep her cool. He raised his head at her with suspicion.

"What sort of work does he do?" He asked and Alice began to become nervous.

"Well you know he runs his own business's!" She said obviously becoming annoyed as well. The judge narrowed his eyes at her.

"What kind of business?" He asked and she was running out of things to say.

"Look your honor you keep asking me about all my personal business and secrets, but why don't you ask Cuphead some of his cause he's got a whole lot of them!" She said that anger in her voice, which she should've been thankful about not getting her in trouble. Bendy hearing that got him suspicious as he asked Cuphead what she was talking about, but he didn't know what to say as Alice's lawyer spoke.

"Your honor, Cuphead has a record of sexually assaulting a young girl, age 17, years ago, and we are concerned of the safety of the children!" He remarked and the judges eyes widen as well as Bendy's due to the shock of what he had just heard.
