Cuphead POV

I sat behind the large desk looking over my papers. It was the first court hearing and I'm honestly nervous. The judge was now in, and I watched him eye me.

"Where's your lawyer?"

"Well sir I can't afford one, but I do have all my paperwork." The judge nodded signaling I could begin. "My daughters were taken whe-"

"We are fully aware of that, your honor my client is ready to put this all behind her. He assaulted my client on many occasions. We want to-"

"Your honor this man has given drugs to my kid to sell." I said sternly trying to control my anger.

"What proof of this do you have?" The judge asked.

"Absolutely none." Sammy's lawyer was cut off when the familiar sound of Bendy's voice came.

"Your honor!" I turned slightly seeing him walk up in front of me setting down his briefcase.

"Sir Bendy?"

"I'll be representing Mr. Cuphead." He didn't look at me as he had a proud stance facing the judge.

"I'd like to request this case be continued so I can become caught up-"

"Your honor my client wants to end this with full custody of the children with no visitation including a restraining order on Cup-"

"Perhaps you should remind your client it is not the interest in the parent, but the best interest in the child, and considering, I think this should be properly evaluated." Bendy cut in. He was good as the judge took in what he had said.

"I need to think over this case so it will be continued on for the next 30 days."

"Your honor, during the time we request full custody be handed to the father?"

"You're pushing your luck. Custody remains with the mother. Father gets visiting one day a week. Adjourned." The judge said ending that hearing. I walked with Bendy outside the court which felt a bit awkward.

"You have really interesting taste in women." Bendy said looking at me with a confused expression. I chuckled a bit.

"No that's not the girl I met in high school. Nope she's changed. I guess life has a way of bringing out the bad in everybody." I told him as he gave me a sympathetic smile. This was true. Alice changed a lot from last I remembered. The two of us were so close and in love during high school, I expected that we'd share a married life with each other. However, when she gave birth to our first child, everything we had hoped for was put on hold. Instead we had a new responsibility to do. I saw how it stressed her with having to get a job and take care of their child. I was up to the challenge on my side. When we came to have two kids, it was to much for her and she changed. I didn't know her anymore. She then left me for the drug dealer Sammy. I had no choice but to seek help from Alice's mother while I worked on trying to provide for my girls. Then the rest unraveled itself leading up to this point. It pained me when I thought about it, but what else could I have done? No matter what I did it wasn't enough for her. She obviously only wanted to be free of our children. That thought angered me and I didn't feel sympathetic for her no longer.

"Well life is meant to be that way. It's like test to see if you can handle it." Bendy smiled a bit. I looked at him surprised by the real smile.

"I suppose. I guess it's all just a test. Personally, mine's just to make sure my girls can achieve their dreams."

"You had dreams?" Bendy looked at me as I couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah I had big dreams."

"Like what?"

"Well to open up my own shop. I'm actually good with cars but for now I'm a bartender at my friends club." I explained thinking about it. Bendy's eyes widen in surprise but he tried to act like it didn't happen but I saw it.

"You should open that shop one day."

"Well I can't now. All the money I had saved up I used for my girls." I told him proudly. Bendy nodded in understandment. Not a second later we arrived at his car and it was a bit awkward. I couldn't help myself, but to pull him into my arms in a tight embrace while thanking him. Surprisingly Bendy returned my hug. I then helped him into the car closing the door too. He then rolled down the window.

"Come by after work tomorrow. We got a lot to do."

"Alright I'll be sure to." I smiled while he rolled the window back up as the car pulled away returning that smile. For some odd reason, my heart was racing a thousand miles.
