That was it. They were done. No more high school. No more cheer leading practice, no more football games or back-to-school dances. They had walked throughout the gym for the last time.
That was why everyone was ecstatic.
They could finally leave this horrid school and never return. There were good memories here, but all any one could think about was the bad.
All of them, had miraculously made it through the school year without any one dying or there being a massive mystery. They had all graduated(even Archie somehow), and were more than ready to leave.
They all had plans. Toni and Cheryl would stay at Thistle house to raise the twins and Toni would go to the community college in Riverdale, while Cheryl did online classes. Archie was moving to Massachusetts with Veronica, as she had been accepted into Harvard, and would continue working on his songwriting. Kevin was staying in Riverdale and helping the sheriff while he took a gap year to learn more about the history of pride, he was aiming to be an activist. Reggie and Mad dog were co-managing the gym for as long as Archie was in Massachusetts.
Betty had no reason to move anywhere and she was going to stay with her boyfriend in Riverdale so he could finish writing his novel. Well... that's what she thought. Jughead had been keeping it a secret that he had gotten into Yale. He didn't think that Betty desired to move away from the small town, he thought she had wanted to stay there to be close to her mother and her niece and nephew. She did want to be there for her mom, niece, and nephew, but she needed to explore the outside world. She had lived in the small town her whole life and only left once to go visit Hal's sick mother when she was very small.
Needless to say, she desperately needed to leave Riverdale. The only reason she was staying was because of Jughead, she couldn't just leave her boyfriend while she up and left the town. Little did Betty know, Jughead was about to make her dream of leaving become a reality.
The group stood outside of the gym, taking pictures with each other, talking about how they would keep in touch, and balling their eyes out. Correction, the girls were balling their eyes out. Every one was hugging and wiping their tears from their faces.
After everyone calmed down they stood in front of the school in silence. They just stood there, no one making a sound. Toni had her hand wrapped around Cheryl's shoulder and Cheryl held her hand there. Veronica was hugging Archie and looking at the school at the same time. Jughead stood behind Betty, holding her shoulders.
It was a comfortable silence. It wasn't awkward or weird. It was as if everyone was accessing that they were truly leaving. This was it. It was the last time any of them would be in front of this school. The silence wrapped like a blanket around them, comforting them from the sadness that they were all thinking about. They were all happy to leave the school, but that didn't mean they weren't sad. Most of them had spent 4 years in that school, it wasn't like they could let go of it so quickly.
After a while Veronica spoke up, "We need a group picture in front of the school, this will be the last time we will all be here at this school."
Everyone agreed and the next 20 minutes was filled with everyone trying to get a good group photo(which they ultimately failed, Kevin kept moving his head and Toni was sneezing like crazy), and after they decided to go get Pop's, they could all use a milkshake.
When they got there it was packed with the graduates from school, everyone knew Pop's, it was like nostalgia from when they were kids. They didn't mind though, they all took a seat at their usual booth, with a few people sitting on top of the seats.
