Bell’s point of view
Darkness consumed me like a warm blanket locking me away so I could not feel the pain that shot through me. It was always this way when things got to tough and hard for my body to handle I would just completely shut down. I would completely block out the rest of the world though it was not the same as when I pushed everyone because of my doubts, no this was different. This was my body’s way of defending itself and it soon became my body’s defense mechanism. Silence was becoming defining to my ears, as I seemed to always fall into the darkness at serious times, times where I needed to be strong expect I flipped and became weak. A cloud formed before me as I exhaled deeply taking away the air from my lungs as I sighed in the emptiness. Slowly I watched a bright light appear at the end of the dark tunnel I had slipped into unconsciously. Squinting my eyes I braced a hand over my eyes to shield them from the bright light streaming towards me when a figure emerged from the light. A figure I would recognize anywhere, a figure that would always be in my heart and hold all my love and devotion.
My mother walked towards me her hand stretched out… so close to touch when all of a sudden she vanished and I was being pulled from my thoughts and mind. Snapping into the real world I awoke with a jolt and turned to look around me at the unfamiliar surroundings a low snore surrounded me and came from my right. Turning my head I looked down upon the brown haired boy at my side, his face looked restless and grim. It was dark to dark for my liking. Sliding from the bed I stood up on shaky legs and made my way towards the door, the moment I touched the handle movement from behind me startled me. Holding my breath as I glanced behind me to see that Ryder was still asleep though his arm was stretched out on my side and seemed to be searching for me in the darkness. Turning back towards the door I slipped into the hallway and closed it silently behind me.
Glancing around the hallway I caught sight of familiar faces in pictures as they lined the walls. A smile touched my lips as I stepped forward and let my finger run across the faces. Darkness surrounded me as I turned from the pictures and began my decent down the stairs. It must have been night I concluded seeing as everything was silent and darkness loomed around me as it streamed in from cracks in the curtains.
Soft echoes of my footsteps on the carpet filled the silence as I made my way towards the kitchen; the house looked the same as I made my journey to my destination.
I let my fingers search the wall for the light switch, once I found the hard service of the switch I flicked it on and illuminated the room in a soft warm yellow glow. Their kitchen looked the same after all these years; it still had the chef theme that lined every wall and appliance in the kitchen. Mrs. Marshall hadn't changed much I thought with a chuckle as I continued to take in the familiar surroundings around me. Walking towards the pantry door I silently opened the door as my stomach let out a low grumble, when did I eat last? I asked myself. Glancing at the shelves before me I took in everything around me before deciding on a bag of Dorito chips, closing the door behind me I jumped onto the nearest counter and began to eat. The cheesy taste filled my mouth and silenced the loud grumble of my stomach as I continued to shove handfuls of chips into my mouth. Crunches filled the silence as my stomach filled with yummy chips, closing my eyes I lifted my fingers to my mouth and began to lick the cheese residue of my fingers. So deep in my enjoyment I didn't realize someone else had entered the kitchen until I heard his chuckle.
Snapping my eyes open I was greeted with familiar brown eyes, sleep still evident in them. His hair was messy and stuck up in weird angles he looked like he was still half asleep, he was leaned against the doorframe of the kitchen.
“Morning sleeping beauty” He chuckled before continuing “Well it is actually night.”
“I just woke up and was hungry.” I said before hopping down from the counter and throwing the empty bag into the trash before I walked towards a tired Jace.
