After getting off the bus, the walk to Baekhyun's house seemed pleasantly quiet, just how he liked it. There weren't a lot of people outside, but the sun was still up and the birds were chirping.
There were a lot of small shops along the street, and benches lined the pavement neatly. Sehun was looking around, trying to always gauge the difference between a shop and an actual home. And aside from that, which one was Baekhyun's home.
After a bit of walking, they finally reached a house, where Baekhyun took out something from his pockets, and with a click, the front door swung open. He walked inside, motioning for Sehun to follow suit.
"... Your house is much bigger than the others..." Sehun commented. Baekhyun continued walking, not looking at Sehun.
"That's cuz my dad can afford it. The bigger the house, the more expensive it is," he explained. He opened the door to the actual house and took off his shoes at the entrance. "Take off your shoes and leave them here," he instructed and walked inside. Sehun took off his shoes, leaving them neatly next to Baekhyun's, and followed him.
His house was very nice. The floor was wooden and the walls were a pleasantly warm white, and the lights weren't overly bright. There was a girl a little older than them sitting on the couch in the living room.
"I'm back," he nonchalantly announced. The girl on the couch turned to look at him.
"You brought a friend?" she asked. "Did you tell your dad?"
"No, he's not coming back tonight anyway," Baekhyun reminded. "This is Haewon, our babysitter," he looked at Sehun and explained.
Before Sehun could speak, he heard a light voice.
"Oppaaaaa!"
A small figure attacked Baekhyun's legs, hugging them tightly.
"Nari! Hello!" Baekhyun yelled and hugged back. Sehun looked between them. This must've been Baekhyun's sister that he talked about...
"You're late!" she looked up at him and pouted. Baekhyun smiled brightly.
"Aw, I'm sorry Nari... that's because I brought one of my friends," he explained and pinched her cheek. Nari turned and looked at Sehun.
"Um..." she mumbled. She turned towards him. "I'm Byun Nari... nice to meet you..." she bowed shyly.
Sehun bowed back awkwardly, not knowing how to respond. Baekhyun looked at him. "This is Sehun," he told Nari. "Anyway, we'll be going up to my room now... If you need anything, you can just ask Haewon, okay?" he instructed.
Nari smiled. "Okay!" she yelled and went over to Haewon.
Baekhyun started heading up the stairs and beckoned Sehun to follow.
His room was spacious and littered with different posters and magazines, alongside books. He had diverse tastes, to say the least...
"Do you wanna study right now, or are you tired?" he asked.
Study... he forgot he had to do that. He wasn't exactly tired, and he already trusted Baekhyun enough. Maybe he could help him with that too? There shouldn't be a problem...
"... Let's study now..." he muttered. Baekhyun looked at his bag and started taking his books out.
"Yeah, if we study now, we'll get it over with quickly... I'll explain everything, too," he assured.
Sehun didn't expect all the substance studying came with. There was a lot to remember, and a lot of mistakes were made. And almost every subject was weird for him. Math and physics, he could sort of understand... but biology was a completely foreign idea to him. At least Baekhyun was a decent teacher, decent enough that he understood the basics of it.
Korean and literature were weird, too. He never knew there was so much structure behind the words he was speaking and the way they were all connected.
Biology and Korean history were only easy for him because he could memorize with little to no effort. Even though he didn't understand either of those subjects, learning them with no real substance behind them was no big deal in his eyes.
"Wow..." Baekhyun commented. "... You practically repeated the entire page without even stuttering... do the people in the Exoplanet have weird memory abilities or something?" he asked.
Sehun looked down. "... not everyone... but my friend Tao did... and he taught me a few things," he explained.
"Ah... so you did have friends at the Exoplanet... I assume you miss them," Baekhyun said. Sehun nodded.
"I do... but it's a reason for me to hurry up and find the crystal," he explained.
"Pfh... right... before you find any crystal, though, I say you get a little more used to the human race before you go cave exploring," he said. He stood up and went over to his closet. "I'll go make your bed and then we can talk some more," he explained.
After making Sehun's bed, which was situated right next to Baekhyun's, Baekhyun took some clothes from his closet and threw them at Sehun.
"Change into these. I won't look," he said and turned around. "They're pajamas. For you to sleep in," he explained. Sehun hastily changed into his pajamas, leaving his clothes out onto the bed.
"I'll order some pizza for us, since you just came here. I think you'll like it! It's kinda greasy, but a lot more flavorful than the food at the cantine..." he explained and started tapping away at his phone.
"I'm stuffed..." Baekhyun complained, lying down on his bed, even though Sehun ate most of the pieces. He never knew that food could be even more delicious than it already was. "Did you like it?" he looked at Sehun.
Sehun nodded. "It was great..." he muttered.
Baekhyun stared at him for a few seconds. He turned around. "Ugh, I'll have to buy you clothes... you only have the ones you were wearing today, huh..." he mumbled. "It's fine, we'll just go shopping on Friday. It's like, two days away, so we'll be fine. I can lend you my oversized clothes in the meantime," he explained.
Sehun let out a long, drawn-out yawn.
Baekhyun chuckled. "You must be finally getting tired... just close your eyes and try not to move. You'll fall asleep in no time. I'll wake you up in time for school, so don't worry," he explained. He closed the light and typed something on his phone, before tucking himself in. "Goodnight, Sehun," he wished.
Sehun did the same and lied his head down on his pillow. "Goodnight, Baekhyun," he wished back.
He closed his eyes gently and got comfortable, and before he knew it, the world plunged into a deep, dark abyss.
Followed by a gentle, whispering voice.
"... Sehun... Sehun..."
