Jennifer
"Anissa." I whisper slightly opening her door. "Are you up?""Jen." Anissa sighs, turning her chair to face me. "Don't tell me you just got home." She was in some sweats, a flowy shirt, and her curly hair was up in a bun as she typed something on her computer.
"Okay.... then I won't tell you." I smile before plopping onto her bed.
"It is two in the morning. You need to stop acting grown, young lady." Anissa gives me the look, the look that never fails to make me laugh, the look I got almost every weekend after sneaking back into the house through my window.
"Whatever." I smile, playfully rolling my eyes.
"Girl- is that a hickey on your neck!?" She quickly stands up out of her desk chair before walking over and sitting next to me at the edge of the bed.
"Can you quiet down. I still got a headache." I frown.
"Your headache can wait. Explain."
"Is it that obvious. I thought I did a pretty good job of hiding it."
"I should be whooping your ass right now but who was it?" She nudges my side with her elbow, causing the both of us to giggle.
"Khalil." I say, trying to hide the obnoxious smile that was making its way onto my face.
"'Khalil Payne' Khalil?" She asks and I nod. "Track star Khalil."
"Yes! Track star Khalil..." I roll my eyes.
"Oh my god!" She says tying my hair up with one the scrunchies on her wrist. "Wait! Did you two-" She pauses, her eyes widening.
"No."
"You better not be lying."
"Anissa I promise we didn't! We've been talking about it though."
"I'm not going to give you the dreaded talk but all I'm gonna say is be safe, use protection and we're going to get you some birth control!"
"Alright that was a nice talk. See you later!" I dramatically roll off of her bed and onto the floor before standing up, grabbing my belongings and heading straight toward my room, not forgetting to lock my door.
On queue, my phone starts to ring.
Incoming facetime call from Bad Bitch Keisha....
Keisha and I only been friends from about two years now but it feels like we've been best friends for a lifetime. I first met her at track tryouts, which she immediately chickened out of because she didn't want to "sweat out her freshly done relaxer" we then became closer when second semester started because coincidentally, we had like all of our classes together. She may not be able to run track (lets be honest she probably could but not by choice) but man, that girl was smart. Straight A's and B's. Yes, Keisha never turned down a good party, but she also knew how to balance her school and social life, which I'm obviously jealous of. I have great grades and I've never gotten into any... legal trouble but yet, dad still doesn't let me go out or do anything fun.
connecting....
"Hey girlllll!" Keisha yells into the phone.
"Hey Keisha." I laugh.
"I seen you and Khalil getting awfully friendly tonight..." I always kept Keisha updated on my dating life. She always gave the best advice and encouraged me to step out of my shell. "Did y'all do the nastyyyyy!"
"Girl bye!" I say and she smacks her lips, rolling her eyes.
"You saying that now but I know you were heavily considering it."
"I cannot stand you!" I say laughing again.
"Yeah yeah. I love you too, girl." She smiles.
