"That's what we're going to do, okay?" Naeun finished laying out the plan. Haeun nodded, biting her lip. She couldn't hide how tense she was, and Naeun noticed immediately.

"I can't believe something like this has got you this scared. Just wait till I catch him—I'll give him a good beating for you." Her sister raised a fist, the gesture both playful and serious.

"IF you catch him," Haeun shot back, a hint of dry frustration in her tone.

"Hey." Naeun smacked her arm. "What's going to work out if you keep sulking like that?"

"I don't know. I just want this all to end." Haeun exhaled heavily and sank back onto her bed, the weight of fear pressing down on her.

"That's why you need to be more enthusiastic for that to happen, understood?" Naeun poked her, and Haeun instinctively flinched.

"Hey!"

"Oh? You don't like it?" Another poke, this time at her stomach.

"Stop it!"

"I don't want to~~" Naeun said teasingly and launched into a full-on tickle attack. Haeun screamed and laughed, squirming to escape, but Naeun's grip was relentless.

"StOooOoooPpPppP!" Haeun yelled, breathless with laughter, finally wriggling free.

"Hey!" she cried out, pouting, while Naeun doubled over laughing.

Afterward, they got ready for bed as usual. While brushing their teeth together, Naeun brought up the topic Haeun had been expecting for a while.

"Where is mother? I haven't seen her since I got here." Naeun spat out toothpaste into the sink, her tone sharp.

"Lately she isn't home as much. I think she picked up another part-time job," Haeun answered, careful not to show how much the question worried her.

"Weird. The money we give you should be enough for basic living, and Dad pays for the house. Why would she work so much?"
