15 Years Later
1977

     Damon walked into the bar, looking around to see it was crowded as ever. He approached the bar itself, pointing to the top shelf bourbon. He looked to the radio, seeing that someone was tampering with it. 

     "Hey, who wants to hear the new Billy Joel song?!" a guy shouted, everyone cheering in response. Damon sat up as he watched the channels change, and the volume was turned all the way up. The bar began to quiet down as they listened to the introduction to the song. 

     "A, uh, friend of mine inspired me to write this song. A certain red headed Italian girl. It's about a very special place, I hope everyone enjoys." Everyone cheered at Billy's words, Damon listening more intensely to the radio. The bar began to quiet down again, and the song began to play. It was a beautiful song, it reminded him of the sixties. The chorus hit and that's when Damon knew.

     He smiled to himself as he thought of the happiest year of his life. Soon after Angel left, Damon remembered the town going back to normal. He left soon after her, taking Tony with him. He ditched Tony down in New Orleans, letting them settle it down there in their own fashion. His brother of course went to wherever he usually went. 

     Thomas Kline remained alive. Angel didn't fully drain him. Katherine healed him after Angel turned, but that was Angel's time to escape. She got out of the house, and out of that town. She started her new life, without the past to drag her down. She went home every so often, but at some point had to stop because as her mother grew older, Angel didn't. 

     And so, Angel lived her life as a vampire the way she lived her life as a human. She eventually learned to control the hunger and the pain that came along with all of her heightened emotions. She only drank from animals, and swore to never hurt a human being ever again. And she knew Damon was long gone. She knew he wasn't going to come back for her, ever. And she was okay with that. Their time together was short, and she was okay with that. 

     Though, their story was not even close to over.
