Monochrome

That was how the world appeared to be in her eyes,

Rules, obedience, controlled,

These were the systems she lived by,

Shattered, scarred, useless,

Those were the words that perfectly defines her.

Then a boy came,

He told her she caught his attention,

He saw her as a beauty,

After a while she couldn't understand,

How he could say he loves her.

Because she knew,

She knew the moment he knew her,

The moment he knew what made her the girl she is,

He would leave her,

He would say loving her was a mistake he made,

Because that was what everyone did.

Even the people that should have stayed in her life,

were no longer here with her,

They abandoned her,

They crushed her.

But he didn't.

She couldn't comprehend,

The reasons why he loves her so much,

When she herself felt as if she was so undeserving of love,

From a boy, from anybody, even from herself.

In fact,

The way he loves her feels very foreign,

Or was it because of her views on love was very different,

He said its twisted,

Love shouldn't be like how she thought of.

He tried to fix her,

But she broke him instead,

Pushed him away when he comes close to calm her down,

Flinched with the slightest touch of care,

Threw spiteful words that had been used on her to him,

When all he said was, "I love you."

Still he stayed,

'Fight for someone who worth the pain' he said,

As cliché as it sounds,

He did.

He pulled her back when she wanted to jump,

He took the cuts just so that there won't be another scar on her,

For her they were her medals,

For him they were her pieces she gave away.

It was torturing, he was mean,

He kept her alive when it was obvious, she didn't want to,

"What is the point of breathing when the people who first had you didn't want you?"

Then he learned her story,

Not to judge her,

But to know how gently he should hold her,

How much love to give her at a time to let her know she is precious,

How much caress she needs to stop her from feeling the tranquility offered from watching a deep red flowing down from her own skin.

She asked, "Why are you here with me?"

'Because I want to give you the love you deserve.'

That was the moment she realized,

She valued herself so low she failed to see how amazing she has been,

Surviving in this cruel world filled with selfish adults as if they have never experienced being a child even once.

She now knows she is more than just cuts and scars and blood and tears,

She is more than just a small weak girl who can do nothing but obey,

She is a girl who can withstand the painful words, the hard blows and the emotional disaster from outside and within.

At least she is not alone all her life,

When the people surrounding them told him to get away from her,

'She got some screws loose,' they warned.

Maybe they are right,

But for someone like him to stay for someone like her, until today

He must have been a madman himself.

Monochrome,

Here finally comes a time where it does not spell how her world is painted,

He is a guider, her caregiver, her lover.

Giving her all the love when she is unable to do the same for herself.

Until the moment came when she forgot that she was once a broken girl.

He is him and she is me.
