I threw on my grey leather jacket and quickly glanced at the mirror to inspect my physique. Flawless like always. I was late, very very late. My date had been waiting downstairs for fifteen minutes. Not so bad for a first impression! The gel in my hair was holding and my new deodorant was holding so I decided it was go time. I grabbed my wallet and phone and quickly ran to the elevator at the end of the hallway. It seemed like the wait for the elevator lasted eons. Finally I made it downstairs to the lobby. John jumped to his feet after waiting on the couch.
"Logan right?" he inquired
"John?" I returned
"Nice to meet you! You are looking great" He flattered
Grindr was the gay communities answer to the male sex drive. I had only been on one other date that was absolutely awful. The guy told me he liked to do hard drugs and pretty boys like me. Understandably, I did not let him drive me home. John was take two. We had chatted casually and last week he said we should meet up and go to the movies. This time I was clear. I explained that I was not looking for a hook up and I would be preforming an on site drug test and blood draw. Just to be safe.
"I thought we could just walk to the theater since its right down the street" John stated
I resisted the urge to tell him he thought wrong. It was a cold winter night and this jacket was not for warmth it was to look sexy and desirable. Shivering was not in my beauty equation.
"Sounds good :)" I smiled
We walked out of the apartment building and began walking down the street.
"You said you were a sophomore right?" He asked trying to make small talk
"Yup, I am majoring in business!" I replied
We continued to walk slowly and we asked the standard getting to know you questions. I learned that John was a graduate student getting his degree in Advance Nursing. This quickly sparked my interest. I was attracted to men that had something going for them, and a career in healthcare was a great choice.
"That's a sweet ring you got there, did you play football in high school?"John joked
"Nah, haha this isn't mine its was my friend, he died in a horrible accident on graduation night." I replied quickly.
Now I was a liar. A great way to start a new relationship.
"Have you seen this movie?" John asked, his face flushed
"No, I am excited to see it! I get scared in movies really easily so I am apologizing in advance if i cause harm." I said trying to lightened the awkward moment.
He bought the tickets insisting that a young thing like me cant afford to purchase extras. Little did he know that I was sitting on a trust fund, probably a good thing.
