It's not fair

My life, all I've dreamt of was being head of a dance team, go to the National Dance Group competition and win and when I went to a new school, I thought maybe it could happen.

It was a Wednesday, the sky was clear to be precise it was a light blue colour. It was my first day at Adam Dean High school. I hadn't understood the grades in America, as I'd moved from Europe, so I'm just going to say I'm 16. You can figure it out yourself. Anyway, I made my way through the cold streets and shuttered as people gave me glares (the girls, mostly) and the boys wolf whistled. Ok so I was wearing denim shorts and a red tank top with a navy hoodie! Don't blame me! Dad said it'd be very warm.

Some guy came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I nodded shyly (Wait ago, Haley) and asked where the office was. He walked me there and gave me a charming smile before the door.

"You sure you're ok? My locker number is..89..So um, you can find me there if you need me" He laughed.

"Thanks, my number's..." I glanced down at my hand with my locker number on it "....76.. So I will see you around I guess"

He nodded and ran to his class when I knocked on the office door. A meek little woman peered outside, wearing a black dress and black stockings. Her shoes were grey, too and her black hair was in a neat bun. I stepped in to the office when she swung the door open to quite a dull room. The wall colour was awful and very old, obviously. Pictures in frames hung by string around a nail hammered in the wall. The window limited the light, making the room just horrid, really.

The little lady with a name tag that read "Annie" sat in a chair and invited me to sit in the other chair opposite hers. I sat down and put my hands on my lap.

"Haley? Haley...." She repeated my name as she went to the drawer in her desk and pulled out a folder and then said; "Haley Reids, Yes?"

I nodded as she handed me the white folder.

"Thank you" I said, gingerly.

"Now, your first class is in the main hall, around here" She said, pointing to around the corner through the wall. "...and just tell your teacher you're new so you'll be fine. Toddle pips!"

I walked out, thanking her. I made my way to the main hall and knocked on the door.

"Sit down Miss....Reids...please" I young looking man said.

I nodded, shuffling to the end of the class room, searching for an empty seat. The English Class (I guessed it was english since we were doing grammar) dragged for 45 minutes but finally the bell rung.

"Miss Reids, stay back please" I heard from the front of the class.

I heard sudden 'ooh's' and 'ouch's' from parts of the classroom but finally the class had scurried off to lunch. I picked up my books and bag and walked to the teacher's desk.

"Um...You wanted to-"

"Yes, Haley! Um, I heard you were on the dance team in your school in europe. Am I correct there?" he said, butting in on what I was saying.

"Um, yeah, I was on the national team for my country..." I stammered.

"Anything else you did?"

"Um, I was a kick boxer and I did singing. Alot of it. I write songs and stuff.."

I mentally slapped myself for saying that last bit. I flinched at my mental slap and the teacher gave me a weird glance.

"Can I hear a song, please?" He begged.

I sighed, sucking in a breath and began ringing out notes.

"..And now I've lost the beginning, never had an end, the story just started to bring us to tend, that lingers horror within our hearts, the way we loved was the way we lived...And I just wish you had me figured like I knew you on my hand, and as you loved me the way we lived, we said we'd love until we died and that's when we say love me like life..."

I meekly peered down to my shoes, (my grey converse) and blushed.

"Wow.." he mouthed, obviously stunned.

"What's your name?" I murmured.

"Toby, put Mr. Holkins to you.Anyway Haley, go sign up for the glee club or or the TALENT SHOW!"

I nodded, but never even questioned going to sing on stage. Hell no. But glee club...YOU WISH!

I sighed at my hopelessness but still listened to Mr. Holkins.

"Well. There's a dance group here and there's auditions after school. You have to try out. I saw some of your stuff on your old school's web page. You're amazing"

"Um, thanks. Maybe I will. Where will it be?" I smiled.

"The gym hall! At 3:45 pm! See you tomorrow Haley!"

I rushed off to lunch and was last in the line of 2 people for an autumn salad with my name slapped on it. I grabbed at tray and pulled the salad into my grasp, before laying it aside, on my brown, plastic tray. I found an empty table and sat there, sticking my fork into the salad I'd been waiting for since 9:30pm this morning. I finished my lunch quite quickly but I had to top up my lipgloss, so I walked to the bathroom. I entranced, smiling, and pulling the pink, 'Summer Strawberry' lipgloss from my backpack. I glared at the girl in the mirror but smiled. Behind me, I saw three girls form a semi circle. I turned around. The one in the middle glared at me, mercilessly. I was scared, but only slightly.

"I'm the head bitch here. I'm Head of the Dance Team. Think you've got a shot? You wish" She said, with her daring words.

"Hey" I said, shrugging as she turned and her clique left. "I' was the only kick boxing in my school"

"And you think I'm afraid?"

"No, just a warning"

"And.." She continued and opened the door for me to peek through "See that guy?" I nodded. It was one of my good friends, TJ. He stood there, with his grey eyes and blonde hair, his soft tanned skin and his amazing smile. He was toll, quite slim, but he was muscular. He looked good in his red, football jacket and his grey jeans.

"He's mine. Hands off" She shot with an evil glare.

I walked off and just as I did, TJ smiled at me. I turned to him.

"Your barbie blonde said I can't speak to you. Bye"

I walked off, almost laughing.
