I like flying. It feels like you're free with no one to tell what to do or where to go. It's just amazing. Scorch snd I soared through the sky without a care in the world. "So!" I yell to Jacob who turned into a hawk. "Where are the mountains?"
"Due east!" He answered. "little ways off the Kay river! Past a few villages! It's about a two to three-day trip! Depends on if there's any trouble or something!" He soar above us going in and out of the clouds. He shook himself and tiny water droplets splashed me.
"Hey watch it!" I yelled and he laughs.
"You try it's fun. It's just like a bath," He said.
"Alright," I answered. Scorch dove up and down in the clouds. Jacob was right! It was just like a bath. The moisture from the clouds sticked to my clothes, my skin and dampen my hair. Water drops were all over Scorch. He shakes and the water flies off. I laughed as he shook. "That was amazing!" I shouted at Jacob. Jacob smiled down at me with his crooked beak. He flew above me and gently grabs my hair with his talons and pulled my black hair in front of me. "Hey!" I laughed.
He looked down toward the ground and said, "there's a village up head. Land!" We dove down and landed. When I jumped off Scorch, Jacob was already in his human form.
"Why are we stopping?" I asked.
"Detour," he responded. "Supply run." He then motioned to Scorch. "Hey, dragon, meet us on the other side of Reim. Rider and I will walk from here." Scorch snorted a protest and I crossed my arms. "Look, it's safer this way. The King isn't too fond of us magical folks if you remember." Unfortunately I knew Jacob was right. I sighed and gave Scorch a reinsuring pat on the shoulder.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine, Scorch, promise." Scorch nudged me with his nose.
"I know you will," Scorch said then swung his large neck over to Jacob, making direct eye contact with the shifter. "But if I feel like my rider is in any type of danger, shapeshifter I will fly into this village and I'll destroy everything to make sure she is safe. Got it?"
"I fully understand, now go, I'll make sure your precious rider isn't hurt." Jacob said. I hugged Scorch goodbye and walked with Jacob to the village. I looked back to see Scorch flying away. As we walked toward the village the walls of it began to expand across into the woods. There were guards walking among wall. "So how come there's only three riders left, not including me?" I ask as we walked.
"During the war, the king had killed many dragons and their riders. Very few riders survived. Those who did returned home to their birth places. Without their scaly companion, they didn't want to continue the fight. So, after the great loss at the battle only three dragons and three riders had survived. The elder, who is leader of the riders, and two others I don't remember their names." Jacob said.
"Wow that must have been some war." I said after a few seconds of silence. "You think it be hard to kill a dragon..."
"You'd think," He replied. As the village gates came into view after a few meters of walking Jacob stop me really quick.
"If they stop us at the gate let me do all of talking. You must stay quiet. Okay? Because if we screw up, you'll never see Scorch again got it?" I nodded and we continued to walk.
Like Jacob said the guards stop us at the gate. "HALT!" One guard said. "What's your name and business." Jacob cleared his throat.
"I'm Andrew." Jacob lied. "And this here is my sister Jenny." I don't know how he did it, coming up with lies like that so fast. I'll be dead cause I wouldn't be able to think that fast. "And our business here is to visit our dear grandmother who has been sick lately. We just want to see her before her time comes." Jacob continued the bluff. I nodded sadly, trying to help. The guards looked at us and looked at each other.
