*Diana was only 13 when this happened*

Diana finished playing outside she missed her cousin but he left to an institute 2 years ago. Diana didn't like her uncle neither did her dad or brother they said he was dangerous, but her mom loved him and believed he was a good-hearted so he was allowed to visit them at the Bloodrose mansion. Her parents still fight about it at night though...

Anyways she was promised pizza so Diana went to her parents closed bedroom door and knocked

"Mum, Dad I finished playing can we get pizza now?" she asked

There was no answer she opened the door and found their room empty, she didn't panic instead she went to look for her brother maybe he knew where they were. Her brother was usually always training and always told her to join. So she rushed to the training room to find the door ajar.

'Hunter? Dani? Are you there?' She called out using the nicknames that she gave him when she was younger. They like to call each other by their middle names which for her is Celeste and in his case it was Hunter.

'Daniel Hunter Bloodrose come on this isn't funny, I can't find mom or dad?'

'Fine I'm coming in and I swe-' Diana cut her self short and the sight in front of her.

Her brother was lying in a pool of blood mouth open in shock. She felt a surge of panic go through her at the paleness of his skin and the blankness of his eyes.

'No no no no' Her voice rising as she dropped next to her brother's body, She checked for a pulse that wasn't there.

He was dead...

Tears streaming down as she looked at his still face something simmered but she blinked again and there was nothing. His bracelets that matched her own red ones where thrown on the floor where their onyx embedded in the silver shone out. She reached out with shaking fingers to grab them and put them between his hands before reaching to close his staring green eyes.

"Atque in pepetumm, frater, ave atque vale"

She felt a dull ache in her heart as she slowly got up still staring at his body willing it to move. But nothing her twin was gone.

She whirled around and ran to the library in final hope to find her parents. Hoping that they were away and safe. But to her utter despair, they too were in a splayed on the floor of the library blood splattered on the books around them a necklace was strewn on the floor with a blood rose-colored gem in the center of it she spared it a quick glance before taking in the state of her parents bodies. Their eyes, green and black, open wide, mouths open in shock actually more than that the word was betrayal. Her dad was stabbed through a small part in his back which lead directly to his heart. She recognized that style...

"Uncle... what have you done" she whispered her fingers shaking as she swept her father's curling brown hair out of the way, and her mothers nearly white strands, like woven silk. She slowly reached out to shut her parent's eyes and whispered the shadowhunter words.

"Ave atque vale" she whispered her voice strained

Her father have told if she ever needed help there was only one person she can trust. Her fingers shaking as she dialed her number on her phone staining the screen red with their blood.

'Hello, this is Maryse Lightwood head of the New York institute how can I help?'

"M-Maryse.. there all dead, all of them" her voice broke as she tried to steady her already shaking hand.

"Im sorry, but who is this?"

"Im Diana Bloodrose daughter of Nathaniel Bloodrose he told me he knew you and to call you in case something li- like this happens"  She started sobbing

"Oh honey I'll send you my address we have to get you out of there the killer might still be around"

"Bu- but Maryse I can't leave them just laying there they might be-" Maryse cut her off

"Alive? A killer won't leave a witness, grab your weapons and head straight to my apartment don't get anything else. We can get those later" She ended the call, as she got up Diana reached for the necklace clasping it on her neck quickly before she quickly headed to her room.

When she reached her room she grabbed her bracelets and her stele. Adjusting the bracelets around her wrist they were a gift from her father on Daniels and Dianas birthday her twin had a matching set but instead of the rose gem that marked their family their mother insisted on a black one to mark her own side of the shadowhunters.

She turned for one last look at her room and she saw a picture of her family together with her mother's serious eyes and her father's ever-smiling green ones. She and her brother were hand in hand his light brown hair falling into his green eyes as he looked sideways at his twin whos darker hair was flying around. Tears sprung to her eyes at the memory she grabbed the photo and rushed out. She had no one, for the first she had no family the dull ache grew to be a searing pain as she finally understood her twin was gone her loving father dead even her ster mother  who had just begun to soften had disappeared, for once she was absolutely and utterly alone.

She started her make her way to the address Maryse sent when it started to rain, it felt as if the whole world felt her despair. She had started crying again at the sharpness of the pain, she finally arrived wiping her tears as she knocked at the apartment door.

But before her hand made contact with the wood she heard something behind her, she slowly turned to find a large shadowhunter holding a seraph blade. She had her hands behind her back so she flicked both her wrists and felt the familiar sensation of her bracelets turning into two long daggers.

"Hey sweetheart, why so sad, eh? Oh yes, family dead the usual. Well, I wish that I came here to play but my master wants you dead and it does me no good to disobey his orders, which is sad because why would he want to destroy such a pretty thing?"  He said before swinging his blade at her.

Diana tried to dodge the seraph blade but she wasn't fast enough it slashed at her arm causing a deep cut. She winced in pain she better start training her reflexes

"What tired already? Don't worry ill make it quick sweetheart"  Before he could finish his sentence. Diana stabbed one of her daggers into his leg. He yowled in pain

"Never call a 13-year-old sweetheart you disgusting litt-" she stabbed him again but in the stomach this time he stopped her hand before it connected with his stomach.

"Listen bitch your gonna die like the rest of your family wither you like it or not" He sneered

"Okay, what's this yelling at Magnus door door? This is an apartment people live here!" said a harsh female voice just as a door was flung open.

The shadowhunter took advantage of Diana's distraction and swung his blade at her shoulder embedding its sharp point into her skin causing her to let out a cry of pain in pain. Suddenly the shadowhunter was lifted from the ground by an equally large man who without hesitation stabbed his blade into the mans chest he let out a gurgle of pain before sitting still. Maryse rushed to her side, Diana's face was streaked with new tears of pain.

'Relax dear, Robert,  Magnus and Ill help with your shoulder but you look dizzy' She felt her a burn of a stele drawing an iratze on her shoulder as it healed everything started to fade.

'Poor child you have been through a lot' Maryse whispered softly as Diana's green eyes flickered shut
