(Destination Wedding ^^)
~
You were sat alone at the bar, watching the newlyweds behind you love it up. You had to watch as they danced to what was going to be your wedding song, while the bride wore your dream dress holding your dream guy. Well he was your dream guy. Till he met his dream girl. You found yourself turning bitter in resentment. You had originally decided on not coming, but somehow you found yourself outside the church getting confetti thrown all over you following the other party goers to the after party.

You had been at the bar for the whole time, you'd decided that you weren't going to leave extremely early. As uncomfortable as you felt, you didn't want to appear so; and leaving would only make you look like you were trying to escape. So you made the executive decision to stay a couple of hours, abuse the open bar policy and then stumble back to your hotel room for room-service.

You were about to take a swig of your fifth drink when a figure came an sat in the empty barstool beside you. Looking around subtly, you notice all the other bar stools were empty. You fiddled with your straw, staring into space when the man interrupted. "Bride or groom ?" Without looking, you answered. "Groom. You ?" "Bride." The both of you nodded absentmindedly as you both stared ahead of you. "Is it open-bar?" Motioning to the bottles with his finger. "Uh yeah. Yeah, you better abuse it or it'll all go to waste." Joking dryly. "Is that what you're doing ?" The two of you made eye contact. "You could say that, yes. Unfortunately it's not my better nature that's forcing me to drink." You replied with a thin smile. "What is forcing you ?" "Weddings. I don't know why but when you watch the bride walking up the aisle, it brings me to tears. And the part where she marries my ex, that gets me a little emotional too." He let out a laugh that brought your attention to him. "Coincidentally I have the exact same problem." With straight face you slipped in a sarcastic remark. "You dated him too ?" Laughing again, he answered. "Nooo. From the brides side." Attempting a joke, it came out more depressing than he intended. The pair of you wallowed in your, shared, depressing cloud.

Out of the corner of your eye, you could see the man turn to inspect you. You noticed he was looking at you strangely so you turned to face him. He was staring at your hair. "What?" Reaching out a hand hesitantly,  "You've got a little ... something." Reaching in he pulled back to show you a heart shaped confetti piece in between his fingers. Scoffing, you snatched it out of his hands and tore it in half. "Love is overrated." Rolling your eyes as you took a big gulp of your drink. He slumped forward, leaning his chin on his palm. "Do you think if we left anyone would care?" "Of course they wouldn't! They only invited us to show the world how "mature" they are." Using air quotes to stress your points. "Oh look at us, we've moved on. We may have ended badly, it was mainly our faults but look at us now! We've improved, we've grown." Your little show received an understanding nod. "So wouldn't that mean if we left, we'd look bad?" "No. If we left early we'd look bad. If we stay and mingle we look desperate and clingy, like we're trying to rekindle a flame from an already damp pile of ashes." "You have a really bleak view on love in general, don't you?" You shrugged and turned your head towards him. "That's What I'm like. And anyway I wouldn't say bleak , I'd say I'm a realist." Listening to the music, it brought up another point. "And this.." You signalled to the whole get up of the room when you continued. "This is all bull-shit. That true love crap. And that nonsense about soulmates. No such thing." Looking at you wildly, he questioned. "So you don't believe there's someone for everyone?" You casually replied. "Close. I believe there's nobody for anyone." With a small smile, the man offered his hand. "Johnny." Taking it, you replied. "Y/n." You didn't even bother shaking, you just held each other. Maybe, leaving the wedding together wouldn't be as degrading as what you would have originally had to face alone. It couldn't hurt

This one is a bit shorter than what I usually write, mainly because I though it felt right to leave it there. I might do a part two. What do you think ?
