I lean my head on Xavier's shoulder.
"Thank you for this." I whisper. The stars twinkle above us.
"It feels great to get away from everyone." Xavier sighs in response. He slings his arm around my shoulders and kisses my cheek.
"Are you sure you can't come? It'll be a lonely summer without you. Please?" I beg.
"Zora. You know my mom. She's difficult." He paused." She's still hung up on Isabelle." He looks away as he says this as if saying her very name is disloyal to me. Well, it kinda is.
Isabelle is Xavier's ex. She was on the road to success. She was headed to law school to become a lawyer and her straight A's made her parents and Xavier's parents proud. Then Xavier met me. It was our last homecoming at high school and Isabelle missed it so she could study. That was also her excuse for many dates. I was alone because Allen Potter dumped me a week before the dance because he thought I was too clingy after I tried to get him to talk to me more. He only called me about once every two weeks and that was usually pretty brief. I then saw Xavier watching the happy couples dance. Now listen, I've liked him for a long time. I've put those feeling aside when I dated other guys but Xavier always came back to me. Isabelle never once mentioned Xavier in Chemistry where we were lab partners. I assumed he was a free man. We danced a single dance and that was it. We were in love but then there was Isabelle. Xavier hurried out of the room after the dance. I followed him outside into a courtyard. I silently watched him and he didn't see me. He picked up his phone and dialed.
"I never see you anymore, You're so busy studying. I feel like we should..." His voice trailed off.
"I don't feel the same at all, Isabelle. It's hard to love someone you don't know." I heard a yell from the phone.
"Good luck, Isabelle."
"I think you only used to me to look like you have a social life. Guess you're not so impressive." Xavier replied, Interrupting more yelling. He sighed and ran a hand through his blonde hair. He looked a bit upset but mostly relieved. A few days later was our first date.
"Zora, You know I love you more than anyone on this earth and all the stars in the sky, Right?" Xavier continues.
"Xavier I hope you know I feel the same way." I reply. I wish he could come with me on the tour across America and the UK. He'd be away from his mom all summer. He'd love it.
"Let's get back, Little blossom." Xavier says to me after 10 minutes of just sitting in the truck bed together. I reluctantly get in the passenger seat of the truck and drive home.
In the morning I sit on the tour bus seat, Staring out the window. Willow sits down next to me.
"Zora, We're about to go. Charlie is ready, Trent is ready, and Cali is ready. The whole band is set." Willow gently tells me.
"Willow, You're great to have but I just... I was hoping he'd come." I explain sadly. Just as I say this, Xavier's red truck comes bounding onto the pavement where the tour bus is parked. I run the doors of the bus and wait for him to come. I grin broadly. Xavier hops out the truck and runs to me.
"Zora." He pants heavily, out of breath.
"You're, You're in a coma. Hurry please. They're all waiting." His voice sounds like a young girls.
"What the hell?" I whisper to myself.
"Xavier I'm right here, Okay? I love you but you sound crazy." I express, Worried.
"You have to come today or you'll die." Xavier screams, Still sounding not like himself. He looks straight in the eyes, Tells me he loves me and faints in my arms.
"Charlie! Hurry!" I scream. Charlie hops off the bus and runs to me.
"Zora, Jesus, You scared me. What's the matter?" Charlie calls, running, in a thick British accent.
"It's Xavier, I don't know what happened!" I reply. In response Charlie picks up Xavier and carries him to the bus. I hurry after him, Still frightened.
