flashback
"i'll be about one hour at your aunties house gguk, is that ok?" my mum spoke as she rushed to put on her coat and grab her keys.
"yeah mum! i'll be fine." i said with as much confidence as i could, seemingly as it was my first time staying home alone.
while your mind may be trailing to different inappropriate places when someone mentions being home alone. however all i thought about was the three boxes of jaffacakes in the cupboard, my biscuit addiction showing through blatantly.
i gave it half an hour before wandering into the kitchen, eyes piercing straight through the cupboard. as i was reaching out to open to cabinet, a key turned in the lock of the side door, to which i didn't think much of it as it was probably my mum.
"what did you forget?" i asked as i crawled on top of the surface.
no answer.
my body froze as i turned around, a man with a big nose and a hat stared back at me with hooded eyes, which looked as if they had no friendly intention.
"hi son." he slurred as he walked towards me with irregular footing.
"please don't hurt me." i whispered with closed eyes when i felt his hands on my shoulders.
"aw bun you know that's impossible. you deserve every one of my hits, you were the reason my life fell apart! you ruined everything with your disease, you faggot!" his rough hand met my cheek with force, pain spreading like fire where i was struck.
i silently endured the pain in my abdomen as he threw me to the floor and kicked my stomach until i stopped pleading and screaming for it to stop.
before he left, i thought he was violent, that was such an understatement.
i forgot how much it hurt to be abused by your own father.
