It was now dead quiet now.I waited in the closet for Jason to come back inside but he never did. I started to panic and worry.
I could hear loud footsteps approach to the front door. The door creaked opened then slammed shut. Then the closet door swung open.
It was Jason.
He was covered in blood and limping. "Jason! I exclaim putting his arm on my shoulders.
I carry him over to the couch. I get some cotton, alcohol, and bandages. I start tending to his wounds.
"Ah. He lowly exclaimed as I bandaged him up. "What happened I finally ask him.
"They got us he said struggling to get up.
"You should get some rest I say making him lay back down. I get a pillow and put it behind his leg and head. "You stay here, I'll get you some water I say heading to the kitchen.
I turn on the sink and wash the blood off my hands and under my fingernails. I grab a glass out of the kitchen cabinet and go inside the fridge.
I pour water inside the glass before walking over to him and handing him the glass. "Thank you he says slowly bringing the glass to his parched lips.
I nodded and head back upstairs. My uncle was upstairs on guard and quickly pointed the gun at me. "It's only me I say putting my hands up. "What the hell happened he asked pointing the gun down.
"The rest died and Jason was shot I told him. "Damn he says before heading downstairs. I continued to walk over to the room my mom and auntie were in.
I slowly opened the door and peeked my head inside. They were still sitting on the floor. "Come downstairs I told them while walking out the room, heading back downstairs again.
My uncle sat next to Jason as I walked over to him. "We need to leave before this place gets shot up he told me. Yeah, we should Kat my uncle agreed.
I looked back to my mom and auntie finally coming downstairs. "Where would we go my aunt asked.
"I know a place Jason said. "It's on the other side of town he added. " Well let's move my uncle said grabbing the black duffel bags and carrying them.
I helped Jason up while my mom and auntie carried Llyod and Nia. We rushed out the house into the car. Jason made sure the car was bulletproof before the purge started luckily.
I carefully put Jason inside and got in too. I put nia onto my lap as my mom put Lloyd into hers my uncle finished putting the bags into the trunk and started to pull off.
"Where am I heading to my uncle asked Jason
174 brookyln avenue
We begin to drive onto the slient road. I look outside as we pass buildings and house. The streets seemed dead for some odd reason then we saw a strange bright light appear.
A gruesome screens of fires, people running and shooting, blood on the road as people violently stabbed each other, people getting tortured. I covered Nias eyes and looked away.
"Just up this street Jason spoke up. After a few minutes we pulled up to a tall building. We get out the car and I help Jason again while my uncle got the bags , my mom and auntie carried Nia and Lloyd.
Jason went into his pocket while I carried him to a big silver door. He then dropped the key.
I helped him pick it up as he whines in pain. we could hear people growing closer to the street we were on.
He quickly opened the lock and rushed us inside. My uncle shut the door and locked it. I exhaled out of releif.
"This way he says as I carry him down what seemed to be a hall. He clapped making the power turn on.
It was a huge interior that looked like an office. "Hey there should be crutches in that closet he tells me as I lay him to the nearest couch.
I go into the closet and grab the crutches handing it to hin. "Why do you have crutches? I laugh. "Hey. You never know he shrugs.
I start to walk around as I saw large amounts of cash laying around. "Jason what is this place I ask him.
"My office he answers. My mom sat in a chair drinking water to calm her nerves. Lloyd and Nia lay on the couch takin a nap.
"How long has it been my aunt asks me. I go onto a computer.
The time read 12am.
5 hours I tell her. "fuck... She says under her breath. I sighed and grab a controller for the tv, I flipped to the news.
It was just a red screen now. I turned it off and took a seat next to the kids.
Then everyone else came too. "Let's pray. We grabbed hands and closed our eyes with heads down silently.
"Amen, we say in unison letting our hands go.
"There are security cameras if you would like to see what's going on outside Jason tells me hopping away as I followed him into a room.
He turned the monitor on as 6 boxes for each camera popped up. I looked at each box.
A guy sat in the road in camera 4 begging for his life. After a few minutes they ran him over making me vomit.
People covered themself in blood in camera 2 which was the side camera. A girl shot herself in camera 1.
"Turn it off I tell jason. "Now! I exclaim making him turn it off now we stood I n the dark.
I was speechless.
Partially screaming on the inside.
" This is what it means to leave in a free country I think to myself. I walk out the room and back down the hall.
I heard sobs coming from my mom.
I rush into the living room...
