Rules

Ashton had over the years developed a list of rules about his curse that seemed to be true based on past experiences.

1. I can't tell anyone about the curse

2. No command lasts forever

3. If a command is interrupted it will stop

4. Commands can be overridden by later contradicting commands

5. Any phrase/word said with the intention of making me behave in a certain way it will work

6. No matter how much I don't want to do something that will not affect the effectiveness of the command

7. Pre-recorded commands, such as on television programs, or written commands will not work

There were other rules listed between others but they were crossed out as each was proven incorrect

4. I cannot be commanded to hurt myself or others

5. I can fight this

The list had been moved from notebook to notebook over the years at it lengthened or amendments were made. This copy had a few holes in the corners from where it had once been pinned to a corkboard, and a little bit of water damage. He didn't imagine he would need to add any new rules in the future, and he didn't need to look at it at all, he knew his limits. So he guessed this would most likely be the final copy, maybe one day he would feel the urge to make it neater, but that would be the only change he suspected. Despite all of this there was something about writing them down and seeing them there that made him feel less ridiculous.
