Chapter Seven - "A Passionate Soul"

*(Y/N)'s POV*, the Next Afternoon

Location: (Y/N)'s House

Okay. Today's the day I take Ran on a date.
Again, it'll be the first date, but also a date she'll never forget.

I'll take Kanon's advice from yesterday and take her to a beautiful flower field.

Let me show up at Ran's house.
I think I know where she lives.

I'm pretty nervous, but I've dressed the part. Well, not super-fancy, but enough to impress Ran and make her smile.

I'd better take my things as well...

Location: Ran's House

I knocked on the door to Ran's house. I hope she answers.

Ran's dad answered the door.

Aaaaaaagh!
Crap, how'd I forget?!
Ran's dad is... strict!

I wouldn't be able to take Ran on a date if I was the last guy on Earth!

I was so fixated on the date itself, this slipped my mind!
I'm busted!

"Hello, can I help you?" Ran's dad answered.

"Oh! Uhh," I began to stutter. "I'm uhh, just passing by. Your house is a ten-out-of-ten."

"Hm?" Ran's dad seemed confused. "Thanks? Is that all?"

Suddenly, Ran appeared from behind him and saw me.

"(Y/N)?" she said aloud.

"Ran!" I said back.

"(Y/N)? You her boy... friend?" Ran's dad interjected. "Well, are you?"

Be brave.
Lying never gets me anywhere.

"No, I'm not!" I bravely said. "I'm her boyfriend! No pause!"

"Well, in that case, you can forget about seeing Ran," her dad said.

I knew it.
This is the Moca situation all over again.
But Moca is a good person inside, who's easily swayed by bread and buns.
Ran's dad is swayed by... nothing!

"Dad! (Y/N)... is..." Ran shouted.

"...Is not taking you anywhere! Go back to your room!" he ordered.

Ran clenched her fists, and walked back to her room in anger.

"Mr. Ran's dad," I said. "Err, I mean Mr. Mitake! I'm not a bad guy!"

He then turned back to me.
"Sorry, but you must leave. My Ran does not need to sully herself with a boyfriend."

He rudely shut the door in my face.
Ouch.

Well, the dream's dead.
But it's not all over yet!
