Chapter 2

Sonic's P/O/V

~Time skip 3 months!~

For the past 4 months, I've been in somewhat hiding. But also have been restoring power to the Chaos Emeralds. Let me explain. About 4 months ago, Eggman had drained the Chaos Emeralds of their power, split the world into a jigsaw puzzle, and transformed me into a werehog. Not exactly in that order, but still. Right now, I'm heading towards my neighborhood to see how my friends are doing, then I'm hitting the road again.

"SONIC! Wait up!"

I slow down a bit so that my friend, a weird, pink(?) fairy can catch up to me.

"What's the rush? Well, other than the world being apart. Where are we heading?"

"We're going to my house and check on my friends, then we're hitting the road!"

"Can we stop quickly so that we can get a snack? All this flying has made me weak from hunger."

"We can get a snack once we get to the neighborhood."

"YAY!!! Let's go!" We kept the pace up until we came to the top of a hill. I looked down and the scene that I saw shocked me. The neighborhood was burnt up.

"Uh, is that where you and your friends live? Um, it's certainly... interesting."

"It doesn't normally look like this, Chip. It looks like something happened and happened to destroy the place! But the question is who and why? We'll just have to look into it when we get closer. Come on!"

We descended the hill to the street. I then slowed myself to a stop to be face-to-face with a burnt down-home.

"Was this your home, Sonic? It must have looked better before... whatever this is has happened to it." Chip said.

"This doesn't look like an accident. Looks more like an Eggman attack!"

"How can you tell by just looking at it?" Chip asked me, obviously missing the obvious clues.

"Because of the parts of the robots left behind and the bits of bomb pieces everywhere," I said pointing out the evidence.

"Oh, you make a good point. Well then, what about the others that lived here. You said that your friends also lived here,"

"I think that they're okay but long gone. I just don't see any trace of the- wait...,"

"What? What is it-"

I grabbed and put a hand over Chip's mouth to shush him. I quickly ran and hid behind some debris while looking through some cracks to see who it is. It was Shadow.

'That faker. What's he doing here? There is nothing here of interest.' I thought. I saw Tails fly in and talk to Shadow. I ran closer to listen in on their conversation without being seen.

"Any news so far, Shadow?"

"Not really. Omega still hasn't returned yet so all we can do is wait,"

"Well, I hope he hurries, because the longer we take, the longer Eggman keeps on doing who-knows-what on (Y/n)!"

"YOU THINK I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT?! I WANT TO RESCUE HER AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, BUT ALL I CAN DO IS SIT AROUND AND WAIT!!!!!!" Shadow was panting after his screaming fit.

It looks like Tails is standing there in shock. I was almost tempted to go down there and slap Shadow out of anger when Tails spoke up.

"...When was the last time you slept, Shadow?"

"*sigh* Three weeks." Shadow pinched in between his eyes, the exhaustion getting to him.

"C'mon, how about we get you some sleep and we can think up of some more rescue plans and see if Omega has come back,"

"...Alright." Shadow hung his head and ears down and followed Tails.

I came out of my hiding place and stared at where Shadow used to be. 'I've never seen Shadow look that devastated before in my life. It looks like he cares for this (Y/n) character. But who is (Y/n)? It seems that whoever they are, Eggman has them in his clutches. I should follow them at a distance. Since they aren't going that very fast, I should be able to catch up to them.'

"Mmf, Mmmmffff!" I realized that I was still holding Chip and let him go.

"Sorry, buddy. I forgot that I was still holding you!"

"Next time, just shush me, but don't do that again!" Chip exclaimed, very angry at my actions.

"Well, we've got friends to catch!" I said, ready to start to run again.

"But Sonic! It's sundown! You'll turn into your monster form if you confront your friends now!"

I turn and sure enough, the sun is down. I start to feel a tingling go down my spine and then the transformation begins. My body starts to rearrange its self, my canines turn into fangs, and my hands become large paws and rip through my gloves. I forgot to mention that the transformation is very painful, but only for a few moments.

"I don't think you can see your friends now that you became your monster form now, Sonic,"

"I wasn't planning on having my friends see me anyway. As mean as that sounds, I'm just here for a short while for now,"

"You mean you plan on visiting your friends later?"

"Yeah, but since I'm in my werehog form... It's fine. I think I will stay so that I can hear about this (Y/n) person and what I missed,"

"That doesn't sound creepy..." Chip whispered under his breath.

"I heard that. C'mon, let's go." I stretch out my arm and grab a tree branch to fling me in the air. Chip sighs and flys after me.
