During our show in the cafe I felt a bit detached. When I sang I didn't feel lifted as I usually do when I played the piano I couldnt feel the rhythm, I couldn't connect. I was too lost in my own thoughts...I was not having the best day you could say. "You were excited about your solo why didn't you preform?""I have a decision to make... a very distracting decision," I said vaguely. "One I wish I didn't have to make. Earlier... on our date I was going to ask Lucas to be my boyfriend," I explained picking at my shoe laces. "But then he told me something and now I have to figure out how to feel." Its hard explaining what you're going through when you dont want rumors to spread.
"What did he tell you?" Henry asked pushing his wavy long hair back from his face.
"I cant tell you," I said looking up at him. "Lets just say he's doing something I dont agree with and he promised to stop... its just I dont trust he will."
"You should be able to trust him."
"I trust him as much as I trust myself, which isn't a whole lot," I scuffed leaning my head against the wall as Henry sunk beside me his knee lightly brushing mine.
"Sounds fucked up."
"We are fucked up," I admitted Lucas, Vera even Dixie maybe even this whole town. "Everyone's a little fucked up I mean how can you not be in an imperfect world right? Thats why we forgive so easily its like second nature for people..." suddenly it hit me, light bulb. "How does a late night adventure sound to you?" I raised a brow mischievously. "There's something I need to know and I cant go alone but I will."
"I guess I cant let you run wild on your own," he cracked a smile.
"I wouldn't be alone I have friends remember?" I tapped at my temple and gave him a cooky smile. "Words going around at school that I was sent to a ward by my mother."
"Thats not even the worst I've heard."
I gasped, "What else have people been saying?" I thought the worst immediately.
"I'll tell ya in the car lets go young Grasshopper," I wrinkled my nose at the new nickname. If anyone would tell me the truth it would be Big John, I know what you're thinking. Marisol you are absolutely insane you don't know who this man is? No one goes to the south side this late. Thing is when I need to know something I tend to get a little unhitched.
Once I got to the old shaggy bar I noticed it was closed odd for a Saturday night... "We can come back later?"
"No," I snarled. "John is going to hear what I have to say one way or another-"
"Sign says closed cant ya read?" John came from the back of the bar smoking on a cigarette his dark hair covering his face. He was dressed in ripped baggy jeans and a white tshirt, if he hadn't had so many scars on his face he would be almost attractive.
"I came to talk to you," I said walking up to the extremely tall guy, for a small girl I had a lot of nerve. "Stay away from Lucas I dont care what kind of business you are into but keep him out of it-"
"He quit why do you think we're closed?" He asked rolling his eyes, "Now get out of my face I've had enough go wrong in one day."
"Wait what?" I was not ready for that of course I asked Lucas to quit but not before i made him take me home. The entire ride I didnt say a word not until we pulled into Devdas and I told him he needed to fix this. I dont know what I meant by that but apperantly he did.
Crossing his arms as if he was bored he said, "Yes your dream boy is devoted to you is that all you needed you two look like a bunch of stray dogs in a town of hyenas."
