The next morning Skylar got dressed, ready to get a job. She was a little scared since she never went to the city. That was a bigger part of the world for her. The only place she ever went to was the store and nothing else. She walked over to Kayden and kissed his forehead. "I'm going to miss you so much" she whispered and he looked up at her confused. She never been away from Kayden, not even for a minute, and leaving him broke her heart but she had to do it for the both of them.
Skylar grabbed her bag and was about to leave the house when Kayden started crying. She sighed then closed the door, he started screaming. "Skylar!" Ethan shouted and she walked in.
"Kayden I'll be back don't worry baby" she cooed but he kept on crying. Skylar picked him up and he stopped crying.
"Bring him with you Skylar I can't take the crying" Ethan whined and Skylar rolled her eyes and was about to place Kayden down but he held on to her shirt. "Kayden" she whispered and he started crying. She held him close to her chest and he quiets down.
"The fucking kid is spoiled take him with you," Ethan said and Skylar nodded then got his diaper bag ready. Since Ethan wouldn't keep him she was going to ask Nova. She placed his pacifier in his mouth then wiped his tears. Skylar left the house and waited for a taxi. As soon as she got one she told the driver to drop her off at the store.
"You're going to stay with Nova, okay, please be good for mommy," she told him as she walked into the store.
"Hey Skylar where are you going?" Nova asked.
"I'm going to get a job can you please watch Kayden for me" Skylar begged and Nova smiled then nodded.
"Of course anything for you and my godson," she said and Skylar smiled then hugged her. Skylar gave Kayden to her and he looked up at Skylar.
"It's okay baby mommy can't take you. I'll be back as soon as possible" she whispered then kissed him one last time. "Here is your toy bear, make sure he doesn't lose it or he'll go crazy," Skylar told Nova and she nodded.
Skylar left the store but waited for a while to see if the baby would cry. Maybe he likes Nova more than Ethan. Skylar walked back to the taxi and told the driver where she wanted to go.
When she got to the city her eyes widen it was so big. She felt different, something new. Since she didn't know where she was going she had to ask for directions. She saw a girl going into a skyscraper and she stopped her.
"Excuse me," Skylar said and the girl turned towards her.
"What!" the girl said while looking at Skylar in disgust.
"I was wondering if you know where a restaurant is that wants help or someone who needs a house cleaner?" Skylar asked and the girl gave her a fake smile.
"Hmm, you seem nice how about something better" she paused then touched Skylar. "How about becoming an assistant you could work for the boss," she said then wiped her hand off that she used to touch Skylar.
"But-" Skylar was about to say when the girl cut her off.
"I don't know if you could get the job dressed like that you would have to look presentable like me," she said and Skylar looked down at her myself. She had on a simple dress, it was the only thing that looked the best in her drawer and her hair was in a messy bun. Skylar looked over at the girl and saw that she had on a pencil skirt and a shirt her hair was up in a tight bun and she had on way too much makeup.
"Okay" Skylar whispered and the girl pursed her lip.
"Well, you should still try out maybe you'll get the job. Just walked into the building and tell the lady at the front desk that you're here to meet the boss and that you want to go to the top floor" she said and Skylar nodded. The girl waved her off and Skylar walked into the building.
She gasped when she saw how big and elegant the inside looked. She smiled to herself then walked up to the lady at the front desk. "Excuse me I'm here to see the boss," Skylar said and the lady looked up at her then rolled her eyes.
"Do you have an appointment?" She asked and Skylar shook her head.
"Then you can't meet with the boss unless you have an appointment. He's a busy man you know" she said and Skylar sighed.
"Let her go see the boss Gemma" Skylar turned around and she saw the girl that she met outside in the building.
"Fine" Gemma said then smirked. "There take that elevator over there and go all the way to the top," Gemma said in a low voice and Skylar nodded then started walking over to the elevator. She heard both the girls laughing. And she cocked one eyebrow up.
"Why are they laughing?" Skylar asked then shrugged. She knew they were up to something but she didn't really care. They are the ones who will get fired if nothing bad happens. Skylar pressed the button and the elevator opened. She stepped in then sighed. She pressed the button for the top floor and it started moving. She was a little scared since it was her first time being in one.
When Skylar finally reached the top floor the elevator opened and she stepped out. She looked around and she saw how beautiful the boss's office looked. She was so intrigued, she began looking around the office but didn't touch a thing.
"Excuse me what are you doing in here," someone said in a deep voice and her eyes widen. She turned around and her eyes widen when she saw the guy that she bumped into at the store yesterday. He walked over to his chair and sat down around his desk.
"Umm... good morning, someone told me that you wanted an assistant," she said and he told her to sit down.
"Whoever told you that they're wrong I already have a personal assistant," he said then pointed over to the other side. The girl that she met earlier. Skylar was so confused. "Don't worry she can't see you" he added.
"But she was the one who told me that you wanted someone," Skylar said in a low voice and he chuckled.
"Why would she do that, did you take my elevator?" He asked and Skylar nodded.
"Yeah gemma told me to take that one," she said and he sighed.
"No one's supposed to take that elevator," he said sternly and she felt really bad. Why would they do that to her, maybe it's because she is too nice and she's not used to speaking to anyone.
"I'm really sorry I didn't know, I just wanted a job," Skylar said then paused "I should leave" Skylar whispered then stood up.
"No sit," he said and she sat back down. "Well since you want a job I do want someone to work with me at home," he told her and she nodded.
"What would I have to do?" Skylar asked and he leaned back in his chair.
"Clean the house, help me in the office sometimes, maybe run some errands," he told her and she nodded. "Show me your files," he told her and she looked at him confused. "What you didn't bring any files, then how do you expect to get the job?" He said and she bit down on her lip. "I don't want any crazy person inside my house, just give me your contact number, I'll tell you about everything," he said and she shrugged.
"I don't have a phone," she said in a low voice and he sighed.
"Where do you even live are you not in this world, how am I going to get to you?" He placed his fingers on his nose bridge then sighed.
"You know what maybe I should find someone else," he said and Skylar shook her head.
"Please I really need this and I don't know where else to get a job," she told him and he nodded.
"Fine I'll give you the job just make sure you're here early," he told her and she nodded then stood up.
"Thank you," she whispered and he nodded.
