PREPARATIONS AND TRUTHS
"YOU SNUCK BEHIND my back and didn't tell me you were going to see Ada?" Wyatt asked, a scolding tone lacing his voice that made me feel a hint of guilt.
"I wouldn't call it sneaking, Wyatt. It was just something I had to do. If you asked I would've told you, but you've just been so tired lately I didn't want you to worry about something else," I explained. I looked to him, watching as he ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh.
"Still, Cora. I'm your boyfriend and your beta. We're a team. You shouldn't have done it alone." I understood where he was coming from, but I still stood by my reasoning.
"Okay, I'll tell you next time," I assured in a fast-paced tone. "But right now, we need to start worrying about how we're going to protect everyone. In the images the stone gave us, it's obviously something supernatural and there's a lot of them. There's no telling what they'll do to us or the people in Seabrook." I fiddled with the moonstone in my necklace, twisting it in between my fingers. "Why are they coming here?" I whispered out the words, trying to think of a motive behind what Ada saw.
"Maybe they need the moonstone?" Wyatt proposed, gesturing outwardly with his hand.
I shook my head slowly. "They didn't have necklaces in the visions."
"Maybe something to do with the zombies?" he offered another idea with a tilt of his head. I shrugged. It's plausible, I thought. "Hell, maybe there's something else underneath the power plant that we don't know about."
"I can talk to the zombies, see if they know anything. Someone could go to go see Addison and her mom. See if there's any records about something else being there," I suggested, earning a smile from him.
"It's cute when you go all alpha-mode," he commented, earning a glare from me. Ignoring my expression, Wyatt wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed a kiss to my cheek. "It's a good start, but it's late and everyone's asleep. I say we enact this plan tomorrow."

"According to Ada, the threat is gonna be here within the next few weeks. That only gives us a little while to prepare and train," I explained to the pack. "I want everyone to be able to protect themselves if need be."
Murmurs fell over the pack of wolves, making me glance to Wyatt. He quickly gave me an encouraging smile and nodded back to the crowd.
"I know that this is a lot to take in, but in order to be as safe as possible, we need to be prepared. This is how we do that." I looked over the pack for a moment, taking a small breath afterwards. "I've already discussed it with some of the elders and Wyatt, and we've decided this is the best course of action. The wolves that are physically and mentally able will be trained to fight. We want the older wolves and pups to stay out of this as much as possible."
Again, mutters flew around the pack as soon as the words left my mouth. I let out a sigh, a small growl echoing from my lips a moment after, causing everyone's attention to be brought back to me.
"I'll admit, this is something unlike what we've faced before. From what I've seen, this threat can impact our futures greatly. We need to be willing and able to protect it, not only for ourselves, but for the generations that come after us," I referenced the pups that clung onto their parents and looked up to them expectantly. "Training for those who are able will start this afternoon."
A familiar wolf, Wynona, stuck her hand up to draw attention to herself. "What is this threat? Do you know why they're coming here?"
You need to tell them the truth, my conscious continued to remind me. "We don't know why they're coming here, but we do know that they're supernatural."
"Are they wolves?" another voice spoke up.
I shook my head. "We aren't sure. Once we find out more, I promise we'll let everyone know." With that, I stepped down and walked over to Wyatt as my arms crossed over my chest.
Whispers and words continued to circulate through the air as the meeting disbanded and everyone went about their business. I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "I'm gonna go and see if I can find Zed or Eliza, ask if they know anything we don't. Until then, you got this here?"
Wyatt nodded. "Yeah, of course. I'll start training with Willa in a few hours."
"Alright," I gave a small smile before pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "I'll see you later." I turned and walked down the stairs, speedily making my way to the exit of the den.
"Be careful, Cora!" Wyatt's voice echoed out.
His words made me grin. "I will!"
