How does DEAR NAME continue and end?
Reyna Elle Dare once again works herself to the top of the industry. She becomes one of the best (and youngest) lawyers known in the city. Not only had she used her intelligence and wits for the betterment of her career, but also to expose the government's own crimes and corruption. She once again makes a name for herself.
This not only turned her into a notable service worker, but it also wrote her name in the target list of hitmen. The bounty on her head continued to rise, and she became the competition of many remarkable cases across the metropolis.
As time passed, Reyna started to become more fond of Jungkook. And so did Jungkook of Reyna. They would dance, play in the snow, and bond over stupid things Reyna didn't know she could enjoy. Jungkook gave her light, and Reyna gave him wisdom. Over the year, their relationship grew and grew.
The night after losing to a singing competition Jungkook trained and put all-nighters for, he decided to go out and drink. He doesn't tell anyone.
In her apartment, Reyna sips her cup of coffee, when she hears a knock on her door. She opens it to see Rin, who embraces her right away. He confesses to her-- again. How he can't take her off his mind, how mesmerising she is, how proud he is of her...
Before Reyna could reply, her phone rang. It was Jungkook. He needed her; he was too drunk to go home by himself. Heck, he was too drunk to even construct his sentences. Reyna excuses herself and leaves Rin by himself in her apartment. She promises that they'll talk about it soon.
Reyna brings Jungkook back to her apartment.
"So there I was, on the stage, on top of the world! I was on the brink of--"
"Jungkook." Reyna sighed, placing him on her bed. She watched as his expression turned from confused to contented. He makes himself comfortable on the covers. "I don't recommend you talk when you're drunk as fuck." She sits beside him and hands him a glass of water, "Drink up."
Jungkook chuckled, "Look at you being so caring-bearing! So marshmallow softie and--"
Reyna forces back a smile and continues to offer him the glass of water. When Jungkook was finally asleep, she sat a distance away from him. She thought about them: did they have something? They've never kissed, but Jungkook treated her so... warmly. She didn't know. She decided to call it a day and rest. Until...
"I love you," Jungkook whispered, softly enough for Reyna to barely hear. But she was sure. She was sure she heard that. She turns her head towards his direction. "I love you," Jungkook said again. Reyna purses her lips and walks over. This time, she couldn't fight back her smile.
His eyes were closed, but the way he said it touched her heart. Though asleep, he raised his hand to caress his cheek.
"I love you," he says again. Drunk enough, his hand dropped from her cheek. "Jae...hee."
This opened Reyna's eyes. Jungkook never loved her. Hell, she was never close to having him. There was someone in his heart, and she was not even her competition. Jungkook never loved her the same way. But it angered her, how he would treat her like there was something.
She wondered if she looked that desperate.
Ever since that incident, Reyna became distant. She shut him out, and at some point, cut off ties with Jungkook. She tells him that it would hurt less to forget about him, and they part ways.
Months passed and Rin and Reyna head to the airport to drop off her sister. After parting ways, Reyna stops Rin from starting the car when she sees a familiar face.
There he was, with his friends. She sees him with a girl, she assumed was his beloved Jaehee.
She wanted to forget him.
She didn't want anything to do with him.
But there was a small part of her that wanted things to be the way it was.
Rin followed Reyna's glance.
"Reyna," he frowned.
"Go," Reyna uttered. "I don't want to talk about this. Let's go, Rin. Please."
Her mind and heart were at war. It annoyed her because this was ever the only time her heart wanted to win.
"His name... I want to forget about it. Fuck, Rin, why couldn't he just told me to forget about him? Why? I want to forget!" Reyna gently placed her hands on top of her head, trying to stop her tears. "I wonder how he feels when he thinks about me. I could never hurt him... the same way he did with him. Even if it's to defend myself... fuck, I can't hurt him. I can't..."
It ached Rin's heart to see Reyna's love for someone who couldn't love her the way he did. It hurt him because he accepts the way things were. Something Reyna couldn't do. It hurt him to see her so hurt. It hurt because he couldn't do anything.
"Rin... even if it was just for a few days, a few hours, or even just a second..." she wondered out loud with a shaky voice. "Did he ever love me?
The epilogue begins with the hostage of 7 people, Reyna being one of the captives, along with 3 civilians, a medic, a little girl, and a fellow lawyer. The criminals snatch the little girl and point a gun on her head, threatening to steal her life if they don't hand them the ransom before the police arrive.
Reyna stood up and started to talk, attempting to stall themselves. Out of annoyance, the criminals replace the little girl with Reyna.
But she wasn't afraid.
She figured it would be a better death than a gruesome one. That risking her life was better than risking the little girl's.
Eventually, the police arrived. But Reyna was not released without any harm. The criminal shot her stomach before running from the police, as well as one of the civilians.
Reyna told the medic to save the civilian instead of her. When light flooded the scene, she swore she saw a familiar face push their way in front of the police and carry her.
And before blacking out, she knew for sure.
It was Jungkook.
