I stared at Ahmed in horror...

He was not able to look me in the eyes..

His words registered in my mind and I just went numb..

"Why?? "

I asked in a low voice.

"We don't know yet.. But you don't worry. Its for your own good. Maybe he was not good for you.. You deserve better hoori...

He said trying to console me.

But I didn't feel anything..

I was surrounded by everyone and they were trying to calm me..
But I wasn't listening.

I went to the dressing table and started taking off my jewellery..

Everyone stared at me with shock...

"Hoori!!! What are you doing?? "
Shanzay asked surprised...

"Well... I'm not getting married.. So what's the use of all this? "
I said without looking at her and continued doing what I was doing..

"Shanzay she's in shock.. She's out of her mind... Let her be.. "
Ayesha whispered in shanzay's ear.

"Hoori.. It's ok if you cry.. Let it all out.. Don't hold back your emotions.. "

Layla said squeezing my shoulder..

"Why should I cry?? I didn't do anything!! "
I looked at her questioningly..

People started whispering and murmuring..
They started leaving and as usual discussing and gossiping about how I wouldn't get married at all and would remain alone all my life...

But I didn't care...

Strangely it didn't affect me and I knew they were right...

Our society doesn't accept rejected people like me...

Slowly only close family members were left in the room..

I had removed all my jewellery and was about to remove my dupatta when I heard what was going on downstairs...

I froze...

Ahmed and abbu were asking my cousin sister in law's brother, imran, to....
