Destined To Be (Ongoing)

It scared the hell out of me..

I was not really afraid of the dark...
But tonight I was alone and that too in an unknown place..

At the same moment, I heard the loud roaring of thunder and lightning flashed through the windows invoking my fear..

I was always afraid of thunder and lightning..

I was just on the verge of tears..
I had left my phone in the bedroom and had no idea how to get there..

I started reciting all the prayers and shut my eyes tightly..

Again, there was a loud rumbling of the clouds and it started raining heavily..

I started sobbing..
I couldn't breathe ..
Suddenly, there was a loud knock at the door making me jump..

I couldn't think of anything to do.
Then, the door burst open..
I ran and started screaming.

I had no idea where I was running.

Somebody caught me from behind and pulled me back and said..

"Stop screaming woman... It's me, Haaris.."

I suddenly felt a sense of relief wash over me..

But my breath hitched realising what position I was in..

His strong hands were around my waist holding me tightly.
My back was flushed against his chest..
His face was dangerously close to my ears making me nervous..

I was about to break free from his hold when suddenly a loud roaring of thunder reached my ears ..and without thinking I turned around and hugged Haaris involuntarily, closing my eyes in fear..

Silence echoed around us..

I don't know why but I felt a sense of safety and security around him..

"Hey.. Shsh.. Calm down.. Don't be scared.. I'm here. "

He whispered in my ears putting his arms around me.
I relaxed in his embrace..

At that exact moment, the lights turned on and I was pulled out of my trance.
My eyes widened..

As if burnt by his touch, I jerked away from him and was too embarassed to look at him.

I could feel heat creep up my neck snd my face felt as if it was burning..

He cleared his throat awkwardly. ..

"So.. I didn't know you were afraid of the dark!! "
He said staring at me as if assessing me .

"No.. It's just.. It's just the thunder.. It makes me a little jumpy.. "

I said stumbling over my words.

"A little?? " He chuckled lightly.

"Have you eaten? " I asked him, trying to change the topic.

"Yes.. I mentioned it in the note. Didn't I?"

"Oh yes.. The note. Thanks for the breakfast by the way. "
I said sheepishly.

Suddenly, the clouds roared again making me glance at Haaris in nervousness.
He raised an eye brow trying to hold back a smile.

Before he could say anything, I quickly ran into the washroom, changed hurriedly and climbed into the bed as fast as I could.

I pulled the duvet over my face so that I could not see the flash of lightning.

After some time, I felt the bed dip making me aware of Haaris's presence beside me.

I was feeling difficulty in breathing as the duvet was heavy.

Slowly, I pulled it down.

Glancing nervously around my eyes fell on the window facing my side of the bed.
Lightning flashed from it making me shut my eyes and I turned towards Haaris..

His back was facing me.

"Are you scared? "
He asked without turning towards me..

"A little"
I said nervously staring at his back.

He sighed audibly and asked..
"Do you want me to hold your hand? "

I thought he was mocking me but there was no hint of humor in his voice..

"No.. No.. No.. not at all. "
I stuttered in shock.

Slowly he turned facing me now.
He was looking at me intently, his eyebrows furrowed, as if searching for something in my expression.

Fear was evident all over my face.
The thunder roared again and I found myself holding his hand tightly.

He sighed..
"So, you do want me to hold your hand. "

I looked up at him and was about to pull my hand back when he kept his other hand on top of it and squeezed it lightly..

"Sleep now.. Don't worry. I'm right here. "
Just like that I felt safe and fell into sleep.
