Meanwhile, in Full Moon's territory...
Thud
"198!"
Thud
"199!"
Thud
"200!!"
Elena shouted with an exhausted voice. Droplets of sweat covered her entire skin under that sunny day. "Well done El!" Rex nodded at her with pride, after she had just finished to lift a huge rock with Giulia sitting on top of it.
200 times, to be exact. That was how Full Moon's future leaders enjoyed training. Exploiting what mother nature offered in the woods: trees, rocks, turbulent rivers, dangerous animals... and, well, Giulia.
"Argh, last time I did 300!" Elena complained with furrowed eyes. Her body hadn't fully recovered since the day of the attack, considering it had happened few weeks ago. Besides, she believed her mind was more distraught than her physique. From Alpha Ciro's attack, to Marco nearly dead. Not to mention the intense episodes with her legendary mate.
Her life became a roller coaster of absurd emotions.
Although, all of them had managed to get back at their normal routines quite well.
Apart from the weekly visits to Black Devil's pack...which it was something Elena couldn't get used to. Hopefully, Marco was going to wake up soon and come back to them.
"Ok, my turn now!" Rex rubbed his hands in anticipation. He went to position himself to do his push-ups. In this case, the rock had to be placed on his back, with happy Giulia sitting on it, drinking a juice and wearing sunglasses. The princess had reported a crucial perforation on her lungs, so she wasn't allowed to train yet. Not that she minded, obviously.
Everyone had been particularly sweet with her, since her brother went into coma. Because Giulia had been crying herself out to sleep every single night, though she was trying to hide it. Her confidence and toughness went hand in hand with her pain and emptiness.
The truth was that Marco and Giulia were inseparable. Only born few months apart, they had always shared a peculiar connection, beyond comprehension. Still sleeping in the same bed most of the time, the two spent hours in their private bubble.
Marco was often doing her hair in the morning before school or before a special occasion. Whenever he went somewhere, he didn't miss a chance to buy her a present.
Their parents had tried very hard not to spoil princess Giulia, but it was a lost cause with her crazy brother. And with Crucifero was on the scene, things hadn't changed much. In fact, she was the only person without any Marco's restriction order and could touch or hug Marco without being murdered by Crucifero.
Once, Elena walked in Giulia's room to find herself in front of a very entertaining scene: on one side Marco was fixing Giulia's hair, while a grumpy Crucifero was holding a hair drier in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other. Under the strict orders of his mate. It was so cool to watch than Elena almost went to make pop corns.
Although Crucifero seemed to hate her, so Elena had tried to keep enough distance from him and all his mood swings.
'Well guess what Cruci?? I will be your Luna very soon!' Her wolf exclaimed, doing flips in her stomach. Elena's breath caught in her throat at her wolf's statement.
"Guys!" An over-agitated Riccardo snapped Elena out of her trance.
He was running towards them and waving his arms. His hair shone under the sun and his sweet blue eyes were focusing on one thing only: Elena.
She sighed, crossing her arms. Conscious that he still liked her as more than friends, Elena had decided to talk to him at some point, to clarify everything.
They were not meant to be together and that was final.
Better would be to mention she had found her mate, but she wasn't ready to drop that bomb.
Especially after Mirko's and Riccardo's eventful meeting. Where Mirko almost killed Riccardo...
Anyway, when Riccardo and Elena were together, well, they were too young to be considered real couple material.
Instantly, her mind started to compare him with Mirko. Have you ever thought: how could I have been with this guy!? What I was thinking?!
Well, Elena was thinking about it at that moment.
Not that Riccardo was ugly or weak. He was an Alpha to be, with a great mixture of strong posture and handsome features. Very famous among the female population, yet to find his mate.
And in his defence, no one could ever compare to Mirko's wild beauty and masculinity. The guy screamed hotness and danger from all his pores.
It was like choosing between a well-behaved, cute doggy or a ferocious, untameable wolf....
....
...
.
Everyone petrified at what Riccardo said next.
"Marco is awake!"
He yelled it twice, to make sure they had heard him.
For a moment, they all looked like a bunch of deer in headlights as the news hit them.
A pure sense of peace spread on Elena's chest. All the worries had disappeared in a blur, like they had never existed.
The four of them screamed in ecstasy, running towards a smiling Riccardo.
Soon they started to jump in a circle, with each other's arm wrapped on each other's shoulder. Shouts, giggles, laughs were all you could hear.
Few tears were also seen on Rex's cheeks, even though he denied the fact.
Marco was finally back from the land between the living and the dead.
Soon they will be reunited again, and nothing could possibly go wrong...not anymore.
If I knew how wrong I was...
