'So, umm... Lily?' I asked, suddenly nervous. I had had just about enough of my mood swings around the full moon.

'Yes, Remus?' She asked, clearly surprised at my tone.

'I-... Could you pass me that charms book?' I chickened out.

'Of course,' She replied cautiously, handing me the book I had asked for.

I got straight back to work.

The library is a very peaceful place... when James and Sirius aren't in it.

A moment later, I noticed Lily watching me.

'Are you ready for tonight?' She asked, putting down her book.

'Oh, umm... yes, yes. I'm perfectly... perfectly ready.'

I started working harder, my quill darting across the parchment.

'What is it then?'

'I don't know what you mean.'

'What is it that you were going to say?'

I didn't reply for a moment.

'I- I'm scared; this is the first time I've... had a transformation on my own since the fifth year. I know it's stupid-'

'It's not stupid, Remus! Where are James, Sirius and Peter going to be?'

I sighed, 'In detention for cursing Professor Slughorn.'

'What did they do to him?'

'Trust me, you do not want to know.'

'I trust you,' She muttered under her breath. Most people would have to say that they thought they heard her say it under her breath but I heard it loud and clear.

'I think I'm going to go to the common room. I've finished my essay.'

Just before I left, Lily said,

'Good luck, Remus. I believe in you.'
