The concert was tomorrow.

Debby and I were laying around watching Disney movies and writing together. We were in my room both sitting on my bed, me against the headboard cross legged and her leaning against the wall. Her strait white hair was pulled over her shoulder. My sketchbook was flipped open on my lap and she was on her laptop.

When she arrived the first thing we did was hug for a strait minute, then promptly order a large deep dish pizza. She seemed like the kind of person to have a natural chemistry with people. Andy liked her as well, judging by his regular phone calls and gushing.

"She's so sweet! You're infiltrating his liiiife!"

"Yes she is, and that is not my goal." I stated back factually.

"Well too bad. You're in it. Not like he's gonna protest to you being friends with all of his friends, tiger."

"I know you can't tell, but I'm so rolling my eyes at you."

Andy had called earlier today (mostly to harass me about my "dramatic love life"). Other than that the only extreme in my life was the anticipation.

"Do you think he'll be upset?" I said mostly to myself, absentmindedly picking at my nail polish.

Debby glanced up and I met her eyes. Her full lips curled up in a reassuring smile. "You know how much he talks about you, right?"

"What?"

What?

Josh had told me Tyler wanted to see me, of course. And I trusted his "I miss you"'s. It was just weird since it wasn't like it was the only thing we talked about. I didn't question that he cared. It was just hard to tell how much through a screen.

Debby sat up and put her laptop on the bed. "You know how Josh and I are pretty darn close, right?"

I laughed. "Yes, Debby. I'm aware of your companionship."

"Well, you know how good of companions he is with Tyler, right?"

"...Yes?" Where was this going?

"So he tells me stuff he'd never tell anyone else. And Tyler tells him stuff he'd never tell anyone else."

"Okay."

"So, I know a whole lot about how Tyler feels about you. Or should I say I know a whole lot about Tyler's crush on you!"

"Debby!" I giggled. "You can't do that to me!"

"I totally can and I totally will. Guess what? He loves your hair, and your SMILE," I roll onto my side and groan into my pillow as she laughs and continues, "He's infatuated with your art and the way you talk about it. Tyler even says you're the best listener he's ever known because you sound like you genuinely care about every dumb thing he goes on about-"

I glance up at that and interrupt, "Because I do care. And he's interesting." I mutter defensively.

"Maybe you're the first person to think that."

"I highly doubt that." I turned over onto my back and stared at the ceiling. "I mean I..."

I looked up at Debby to see her grinning at me knowingly. "You're into him too."

"Maybe." I said wholly unconvincingly.

"Hey, it's alright to admit it. When I started dating Josh I never knew it would lead to all this."

"All what?"

"This. This beautiful, musical, scary, lonely life. There are ups and downs that will always create a perfect balance. If everyone was happy no one would be, right? When I talk to him on the phone of course I want to be holding his hand. But that's the balance. I miss Josh, I need him. I feel so small and then all over again I see him and I know I love him." She has the most honest eyes I've ever seen.
