A whole day in bed sounded amazing after the week (Y/N) just had, of helping her mom babysit her friends' children so she could go on holiday. 3 kids running around the house was exhausting and all she wanted was to lay in bed and relax.
"(Y/N)! You home!? Come on, get up! Ian and I are about to embark on an epic quest and I can't do so without my warrior girlfriend by my side!"
Not today though.
----
"So tell me why you had to wake me up to go on a Saturday morning just for some old building?"
"(Y/N). It's 1 in the afternoon."
"Its been a long week."
Shaking his head he kept his gaze on the road as he started to explain what was so important about it.
"This is not just any building my lady, It happens to be a castle inside of which lays a portal - and get this no one knows what's on the other side because they've never found it!"
"So you think that 3 kids can just waltz in and find it when people like geographers and scientists couldn't?"
"Well my dear, we are going to be able to find it because we are not scientists or geographers we are ADVENTURERS!"
"Ok. Let's give it a shot then."
Hours had passed in their journey and Barley had been talking up the portal for some time. when the trio arrived they found the castle to be in very rough shape, though still standing. They walked up to the front door almost restraint-fully. Barley lifted his hand to push the door only for it to fall down. uneasy glances were shared between the group before proceeding. As they entered they saw pillars half crumbled and what looked like the remains of a great dining room. rotted chairs scattered around the large room.
"Wow, okay if a secret portal was hidden anywhere it'd be here," Ian remarked"
"Now, let's go find that portal"
Barley took (Y/N)'s hand as the group started walking through corridors and up stairs, eventually finding a room that looked similar to a living room. moldy carpet laying on the floor, crust bitten curtains hanging in front of what's left of the windows, particles of dust floating all around the room.
"You would think with such a big castle they would be able to afford a cleaner"
Barley picked up the carpet and shook it a little causing dust and bugs to fall off
"Ew Barley that's gross don't do that" Ian grimaced
"Do what? This?" Barley stepped closer and began shaking it again much to Ian's displeasure.
As Barley was shaking the carpet a blue shiny object flew from it and landed on the ground, making a loud noise. Their attention was drawn towards it, stepping closer only to realize it was some sort of shiny blue hand mirror. (Y/N) bent down and picked it up examining the edges realizing that the impact to the ground broke a piece of the glass. She glances around and spots the shard resting on an end table about two feet away, walking towards it she reaches out for it.
"Careful its glass" Barley warned
Shaking her head (Y/N) takes the piece in her hand then turns towards the others and compares it to the mirror.
"A perfect fit."
She slides the piece in place, then all of a sudden the broken shard glows for a second causing the group to turn away their heads. It then dims and when they look back the fitting is seamless and looks as if it wasn't even broken in the first place.
