A Quest to Remember ---- Barley x Reader

It was a normal day in the lightfoot household, (Y/N) was round and it being the summer holidays Ian didn't have any work so he was spending the day with her and his brother Barley. None of them had anything better to do so they put on some old crappy tv show and made fun of it the whole way through. They had been doing this since 12:25 in the morning and it was currently 4pm. All their snacks were gone and they were absolutely knackered from doing absolutely nothing all day.

"Hah what an idiot, its clearly C."

(Y/N) spoke with confidence.  And as she had predicted the answer on the TV was C.

"Well done (Y/N), you know maybe you can like read minds." Barley remarked

"What? Through the TV?"

Barley leaned more into the couch and shrugged "You never know"

All of a sudden Blazey started barking(?) at the door, spinning in circles and trying to get their attention. Ian got up and went over to find out what's going on.  Finding nothing better to do (Y/N) followed him which led Barley to the door as well. Ian picked up Blazey who was still going crazy as Barley grabbed the handle. He took a quick glance at (Y/N) who nodded her head at him, he then turned the handle to reveal a small animal sitting directly in front of the door. the creature was not one any of the others recognized which brought up many questions, none of which even got asked before it ran off.

Barley suddenly gasped drawing the attention of Ian and (Y/N).

"You know what this means right"

"No? what?"

"A QUEST!"

Suddenly Barley and Ian's mom Laurel interjected.

"Oh no no no you're not going on any quests. Without a packed lunch, there is some in the fridge I keep ready-made, be back before sundown tomorrow. (Y/N)? Take care of them."

"Will do"

Barley went to grab a few backpacks and the lunches as Ian and (Y/N) got ready, putting on shoes and gloves preparing for the journey they have yet to plan out. after getting everything ready they waved laurel goodbye, closed the door and set out. 

"Where exactly are we going?" Ian questioned

"Over there!" Barley enthusiastically shouted while pointing at the mysterious creature they saw earlier sitting just down the path staring at the trio. 

"It's calling us" (Y/N) whispered as her eyes started to sparkle

"That's the spirit! come on!" Barley yelled before starting to chase the creature down the path.

(Y/N) and Ian looked at each other and shrugged before sprinting to follow Barley. They followed the creature down the path then through the forest to arrive at a cave entrance covered by vines. slowly approaching the vines, Barley reached out his hand and pushed them aside to reveal darkness with only the creature sitting inside. It the roared, startling the group then running right into the cave. still stunned they didn't move for a moment until  Ian snapped back to reality and coughed a bit.

"well, I guess we know where we're going then." He proceeded to walk into the cave and turn back to the others. "You coming?"

Barley held a hand out towards (Y/N) and gave her a smile "Well my lady?"

(Y/N) gently took his hand "Let's go on an adventure"
