No Matter What P2 ---- Barley x Reader

Barley, Ian and (Y/N) decided that trying to restart the portal was a waste of time since they would need another mirror to do so. The three of them figured that the blue light meant that there was another portal. But of course, it would be on the highest spire, just so convenient. However, before their journey started they had to make sure that they were mentally prepared for what dangers may lay ahead.

"In any case, we have to stay together" Ian suggested 

"Right if anything goes wrong we have each other to rely on right guys? Barley?"

Barley hesitated but agreed none the less "Right."

--Two hours later--

"We have been walking for a long time now, maybe we should take a break" Ian suggested

However, Barley felt the need to keep going since he knew that it was his fault that they were in this mess, to begin with

"Ok, you guys rest here for a bit I'm gonna look around some more just in case there was something we missed"

(Y/N) was uneasy about Barley going off on his own "But Barley-"

"Hey. I'll be fine" He gave her a crooked smile and turned to leave

(Y/N) sat down on the grass next to Ian, who noticed her distress

"Something wrong?"

"You know he's going to work himself into the ground trying to protect us."

"He just cares. But he does tend to throw himself in harm's way for us.

"One of these days he's going to get hurt, like seriously hurt and what if that happened because he was trying to protect you or me? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that happened!" (Y/N) started to panic as she listened to her own words

"Hey, remember what you said 'we have each other' right?"

(Y/N) smiled and nodded "Right"

Just then Barley's voice broke through the trees

"Hey, guys come check this out!"

Ian and (Y/N) rushed through the trees and bushes to find Barley sanding in front of a very un sturdy bridge which made them all nervous.

"It looks, well not good. I'll go first" Barley said going to test the bridge, making sure that it was stable enough for the others to walk on.

(Y/N) and Ian look at each other for a brief moment before standing right at the edge of the bridge and carefully watching as Barley walked from one side to the other, flinching every time a rock moved. finally, after what felt like centuries he made it across.

"Looks like it's okay, come across one at a time!" 

Ian patted (Y/N)'s shoulder and started walking. Whilst he was on, it started creaking and swaying which made Ian freeze.

"Ian it's okay! it's okay! don't panic! Just stay still." (Y/N) tried calming him down and luckily it worked. Ian stayed completely still and after a bit, the bridge stopped moving.

"Ok, Ian come to me slowly" Barley instructed

He looked at Barley uncertainly but nodded anyway. Whilst Ian was carefully moving, Barley and (Y/N) were holding their breaths in anticipation and fear. Eventually, He was in reaching distance so Barley grabbed his arms and pulled him to safety. (Y/N) felt like she could collapse from all the adrenalin, but it was her turn to cross the bridge.

"(Y/N), there is no way you can cross that. it's way too unstable you'll never make it!" Ian expressed his concern

"We don't have an option this is the only way around and this place is way too spooky for me to go alone so, either way, I have to cross this. I'll just be very careful and slow."

Despite Ian's warning, (Y/N) went ahead and put her right foot right on the edge of the bridge to test if it was sturdy even though she fully well that it was not. Taking a deep breath, (Y/N) puts her other foot on as well making the bridge creak. She took another step, a few rocks fell off the side. She took another step, the bridge swayed. She took another step and the back of the bridge crumbled. She took another step. She took another step. She took another step, the bridge started to collapse.

"(Y/N)!! RUN!!" Barley and Ian screamed for her 

She began to sprint as fast as she could, the bricks coming out from underneath her feet. Tripping over literally everything. She jumps and grabs onto the side then watches as the bridge falls into the abyss. Her hand slips from the edge and a loud gasp escaped her mouth but just in time Barley grabs her hand.

"hold on! I've got you!" He shouted, holding on tightly to her arm but he was slipping 

"But who's got you!?"

"I have!" Ian grabbed onto Barley's other arm and tried to pull the both of them up only to get pulled down too

The three of them were falling, fast but luckily Ian had some tricks up his sleeve. he cast his famous invisible bridge because only he landed on it he grabbed Barley who took ahold of (Y/N)'s hand. They stayed still for a moment, trying to figure out what to do

"Ian, any way you could lower us?"

"I can try"

Ian slowly lowered them until he had reached his limit

"I can't lower you anymore!"

"were gonna have to jump"

"Agreed"

"Ian we have to jump!" (Y/N) shouted up to him

"What are you crazy!?"

(Y/N) moved her hand to show a small amount to say 'a little'. The three of them all took deep breaths and tried not to look down

"Okay on the count of three 1-2--3---!"

All at once, they started falling again and they hoped that something would happen that would not cause their immediate demise. A loud sound broke through their thoughts accompanied by them hitting a wooden surface and falling through said wood which broke their fall slightly, but it still hurt them when they hit the floor. Ian landed in a huge haystack causing him minimal harm, Barley landed in a deep pool of water causing a small amount of damage and (Y/N) had it worst by hitting the walls and being thrown from side to side then falling harshly to the ground.

She lay there on the floor unable to get up or move but she was still conscious. Her eyes going blurry she saw a fuzzy version of Barley and Ian rush towards her, faintly hearing her name. unable to move she whispered out one thing before falling unconscious

"Barley..."

"(Y/N)! NO, NO STAY AWAKE (Y/N)!!"

She could no longer hear him.
