Author POV
It was now 2:00 am and Taehyung was tired. Really tired. People are tiring. Life is tiring. Jimin already left, but Taehyung decided to stay back to clean and close up."Are you sure I can leave? I don't want to burden you TaeBear..." Jimin muttered, but Taehyung heard him loud and clear.
"It's no problem ChimChim. I can handle this." With that Jimin left, not forgetting to kiss Taehyung's cheek and flash his adorable eye smiles. The kiss was a friend to friend thing they did, no romantic feelings attached. They both knew that.
After everything was done, Taehyung grabbed his stuff from the staff room, closed up and left, walking his way back home.
Taehyung POV
It was always so dark walking back home. The streetlights were spaced far apart and flickers every so often. I felt a drop of rain on my nose, followed by another and another, until it full out started to rain. I was already drenched so there was no need to rush home. The rain was nice and calming. It clears all my worries and stress away. Washes it out, as if it was never there.
'How nice it would be for it to forever rain.' I thought to myself. Walking through the streets, passing houses and cars and alleyways, the rain tapping the ground with a gentle splash. People in their homes with muttered laughter and cheers.
I can hear the joyous voices enjoying themselves and I can only think to myself. 'God, why have you abandoned me?'
I just wanted a normal life. I just wanted to be happy with my family. Why... am I not happy with myself?
Every step I take I can feel myself sinking into the floor. I tread through the rain, my eyes holding back the tears that beckon to fall. I was passing by another alleyway until I heard something that snapped me out of my thoughts.
A screaming sound. It sounded eerily of a child, so without second thought, I sprinted down that alleyway. Rain and sweat ran down my face and body. Once I reached a dead-end, I saw a black cat and a tabby cornering a terrified dark-brown bunny, still screaming.
Out of instinct, I ran straight from the bunny cupping it in my arms with the bunny still screaming. The two cats got scared off by my presence and scurried away. The bunny tensed up when I touched it at first. Once it saw that the cats had gone, it stopped screaming and started to loosen up.
I slowly set it down back on the floor. The bunny stared up at me with big chocolate eyes and jumped onto my lap. It started to sniff me, its little nose twitched rapidly. Reaching out my hand, I tenderly stroke his head making sure to do it extra slowly. It closed its eyes, and lightly rubbed its teeth together making a very soft purring sound.
I smiled at the sight and carried the bunny up to my chest, where it buried his head into the crook of my neck. "Has God abandoned you too little one?" I spoke softly. The bunny made a quiet clicking as it was chewing on my shirt. I chuckled. "I guess that makes the two of us..." I murmured, as I made my way back home with the bunny.
*Time Skip*
After that long journey, I was finally at my house standing in my living room with the bunny in my arms. Oh how much I just wanted to plop into bed and have my soul be sent to heaven, but I was wet, cold, and had a dirty, soggy bunny in my arms.
I look down at the bunny. "You good if we showered together? I mean we don't have to if you don't want to.." The bunny just gave me a weird look but said nothing. I don't know why, but I feel the need to ask for consent. I never had a pet before, so I don't know what to do.
I took the silence as a yes and made my way to the bathroom. I settled the bunny in the sink not wanting to get the rest of the bathroom dirty and turned on the bathtub water. I settled my hand in the almost full bathtub, check the temperature. Perfect.
I stripped off all of my clothes, leaving me naked, and threw it into the laundry basket. I picked up the bunny and cradled it... wait... him into my chest and slowly dipped myself into the water. The bunny was surprisingly composed the whole time.
I used my vanilla scented shampoo to clean him off, softly massaging his scalp and body. He purred and leaned to my touch as I cleaned him. I cooed at him, and after everyone was all clean and dainty, I put on my pajamas and dried him off with my extra towel.
At this point, I'm tired and delirious. I just want to crash onto my bed and never wake up. I grab my phone that I put on the living room table and set an alarm. The bunny was in my arms with his head resting on the right side of my neck, already asleep. I went to my bedroom and slowly crawled onto the bed, lying face up, the bunny now curled up onto my chest.
'I should probably go to the vet to get him registered and checked up. Should I buy him a pen? I should buy one, but he seems perfectly fine without one... Does he have an owner? Probably not... Poor guy. What should I name him? Thumper...Nah, too generic. Bunbun... Nah, that's so childish. Oreo... probably not, that's copyrighted. Hmmm... Kookie... kookie... I like the sound of that.'
Author POV
With that, Taehyung fell into a peaceful slumber with his new pet, Kookie, on him. Little did he know the journey of finding happiness that came from bringing that little bunny home.
