Chapter 4 - Desperation and New Friends

"Wait! Where are you taking her?!" Levi's loud voice echoes throughout the cave. His whole body stuck to the wall by a blanket of Quis.

"Levi! Help me!" I scream my lungs out as I struggle inside what seems to be a cocoon made of Quis and am moving further inside the cave.

"EARTH! I cannot believe my luck!" The old lady rejoiced. "EARTH!"

Her calm and kind persona now nowhere to be seen. The woman before us is one consumed by extreme desire and desperation. Her eyes wide as if being possessed and her smile that of someone drowning in insanity.

She laughs and orders the Quis to take me with her. "Finally! The time has come!" Her evil laugh blasting through the cave as we disappear in the darkness.

"NO! WEIRDO!" I hear Levi cry out for me and I try my best to free myself, but as fate would have it, I am too weak.

As I lose sight of Levi, I am brought into a room located deeper inside the cave.

In this part of the cave, the walls and floor are no longer soft and fluffy. Instead, I see small white streaks in place of the Quis' dead bodies. They look like they are much harder and more solid than the ones we slept in. It's almost like they're bones. Qui bones.

"Let go of me! Sherry! Why are you doing this?!" My voice ringing through the vast underground chamber.

This is exactly why I should've listened to my notion! I knew this woman was bad news but I let my guard down! Stupid!

After saying that I was from Earth, Levi was about to say his world's name when Sherry suddenly ordered the Quis he was sitting on to stick him to the wall. Then, she changed completely. She jumped and yelled as if she finally got something she wanted for a long time and proceeded to trap me as well.

I have no idea what she is talking about but I know we cannot stay here much longer.

"Ahhh..." I hear Sherry sigh in utter happiness. "I can finally go back!" She said more to herself than me.

"W-what? Go back to where? What are you going to do to me?! Sherry!" I spout out questions in a frenzy.

"Oh shut up, you little wench!" She turned to me and glared.

Startled by her distorted expressions, I gulp.

Is she gonna kill me?

"You have the gal to wander around in this miserable place and say you're actually from Earth?! And in front of me of all people! Hah!" She exclaimed, pulling out something covered with a big cloth.

"Why was it so wrong to tell you where I came from!? You asked and I answered, HAG." I lost all sense of respect for Sherry the moment she called me wench. Seeing that she is not the woman I grew accustomed to just a few minutes ago, I decide to drop the honorifics.

She fell into hysterical laughter after hearing my words, "You really don't get it do you?!"

"No! I don't! Enlighten me!" I bite my tongue to stop myself from saying something I might regret.

She dragged the cloth-covered object and placed it in the middle of the room.

"I am from Earth little missy. For decades, I was forced to live in this cursed world, unable to go back to where I came from. I left my family, friends and belongings! I lost everything! I tried so many unimaginable procedures just to find a way to go back! I even tried to use these damned Quis! When all those failed, I realized that maybe, what I really needed was a person to be sacrificed. I kidnapped thousands of people. Young, old, middle-aged, newborns! You name it! But for some reason, it never worked. So I thought, maybe it was because the people I used weren't from the same place I came from." She rambled and as she continued to talk, her face grew more and more distorted with insanity.
