"Sorry, Ned. What did I miss?" Peter whispered as he snuck back into class to sit right next to Ned.
"Miss Zwick was just about to tell us about our field trip next Friday." Ned whispered back to me.
"Field trip? We're going on a field trip? Why are we going on a field trip?" Peter asked with a furrowed brow.
"I don't know, all I know is that we are going on a science-y field trip." Ned shrugged.
"Shhh! Losers, some of us are trying to listen to what Miss Zwick has to say. Just because you two are talking about Spidey stuff doesn't mean that everyone else wants to." MJ rolled her eyes at the two best friends.
"Heeeyyy! A little discretion, please!" Peter shushed her, frantically looking around the room to see if anyone had heard what she was saying. Luckily, everyone else was paying attention to the teacher and hadn't heard what the three musketeers were talking about in such hushed tones.
"....Stark Industries!" Miss Zwick finished saying, Peter only caught the ending part of what she was saying.
"What did she say about Stark Industries?" Peter said with sudden sharpened interest.
"We're going to Stark Industries for our field trip next week!?" Flash said excitedly and then turned around to Peter with an evil glint in his eyes.
Peter froze and then gulped after catching Flash's gaze. "Ohhhh....shoot. This is not going to go well for me." Peter bemoaned as he slammed his head down onto his desk below him. MJ laughed in amusement and Ned started to vibrate in excitement as he realized what they were talking about for the field trip this year.
"What? Afraid that everyone is finally going to have proof about your little 'internship' with Stark Industries being fake and a big lie?" Flash smirked at him.
"No, Flash, we've been over it all already—its not a fake internship, you're just butt hurt you don't have an internship." Peter snapped back quickly, just as he would had it been his Uncle Clint that had sent the zinger at him.
Flash wasn't at all surprised as Peter had been retorting and sticking up for himself these last 3 years...ever since after the Freshman Homecoming dance.
"As I was saying, class," Miss Zwick cut in, "we will be attending a weekend long trip to Stark Industries. Where we will be staying in the Stark Tower and touring the Tower as well. Before you ask, no we will not be going up to the Avenger's quarters as that would be rude. Any other questions that don't have to do with the Avengers?"
Peter felt his face warming up. He lived in the Tower...with his aunts, uncles, and mom and dad...and Aunt May. Ever since Tony and Pepper met him and May they welcomed them into their home and family with open arms. Going as far as to legally adopt Peter but not forcing May out of his life. "Ned, my Dad is going to have a field day...."
"Pete...you literally live there. We're there every weekend regardless so what's the big deal?" Ned asked rolling his eyes at his best bud.
"He's afraid of what his family is going to do to him. Isn't that right, Web Head?" MJ said with a smirk to her boyfriend as she nudged him with her elbow.
"Let's not forget that you're my girlfriend and thus are more than likely going to get a bit of it as well. And Ned, you're like my brother so don't be surprised when my aunts and uncles come for you too." Peter snapped back at them.
Ned and MJ shared a look and then both shrugged simultaneously at Peter without a care in the world.
"You guys could at least act as if that bothers you." Peter grumbled sliding down in his chair as he crossed his arms across his chest.
"You're the only one with the issue, babe." MJ said with a peck on his cheek—now, MJ wasn't the type for PDA but also wasn't the type to just let Peter get away with being a right little shi....turd to her either, thus the kiss on the cheek. It would embarrass him enough to either get him to do one of two things; first of those being splutter until he could make a halfway decent and understandable sentence and second of those things render him speechless.
"Wh...bu...huh?" Peter said flustered by the act of Public Display of Affection from his girlfriend. Speechlessness it was then MJ thought to herself with a bit of a smirk as she walked away from the group in order to go to go to the buses after the bell rang to signify the end of school.
"Good luck at home tonight bruh." Ned said as they parted ways—Ned distantly following MJ as he went towards the buses as well and Peter going towards the sleek hot rod red convertible that his dad was driving to pick him up from school today.
"Hey there kiddo!" Tony said as Peter got into the car.
"Hey, Dad." Peter said with a smile; having a dad was the best thing in the world to him.
"How was school, bud?" Tony asked as he peeled out of school area and jumping on the freeway without a second thought.
"It was great, same old, same old. You know?"
"Ahhh... I see. Same old, same old. So, nothing new was announced or anything?"
"Uhhh...we're getting new tablets for school work."
"Really? What kind?"
"What type do you think, Dad? You basically own the school." Peter rolled his eyes.
"Really? Stark pads? Neat!" Tony said with a small chuckle.
"Yeah and I think that its super neat that this model is the one that I got to work on with the other interns at home! I'm honestly super excited to be part of that, Dad." Peter said excitedly with a slight buzz.
"That's great, bud. I'm happy for you and happy that you got to be a part of it." Tony smiled at his son. "Now just you wait until your sister gets to be involved in a project like that!"
"Uggghhhh...Morgan is going to lose her mind." Peter groaned and laughed slightly. "She's still got a few years in front of her before that happens. She's only 5 right now."
" Well, obviously, Pete but I can't wait until you two take over the Stark Industries and the rest of the companies so your mom and I can retire and become old people and make you guys suffer with all the stressors of life that we currently deal with and you guys don't have to."
"You do realize that I'm Spider Man and thus deal with more stress than the average person, right?"
Tony rolled his eyes at his son as they pulled up to the Tower and parking half way on the sidewalk and half way on the road, embarrassing Peter as they jumped out of the convertible and Tony threw his keys to the valet to park his car. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Within the allotted hours that you're allowed to do your extracurricular activities."
"Yes, Daaaadd." Peter dragged out the name and rolled his eyes at his father.
"Welcome home, Boss and Little Boss." Karen said as they walked into the lobby after going through security (which consisted of Tony waving two fingers at the guards as they slipped through the metal detectors) and headed towards their private elevator. The ride up was uneventful and had an easy quietness to it. Peter had all but forgotten about his dreaded field trip when Tony spoke up as the elevator doors were opening.
"Oh, by the way Underoos, your Mother is the one that made the field trip happen here." Tony said with a smirk as he walked away.
Peter started to splutter and dropped his backpack from his hands as he stepped out of the elevator. "Waa...wha...Dad?!" he forced out tripping on his own two feet as he attempted to chase his father down the hall to the kitchen where he was greeted with the smirks and evil glinting eyes of his entire family. Peter gulped as he zeroed in on Clint and Natasha as they had the calmest of expressions—which shouldn't surprise him as they were both master spies and master assassins.
This was going to be one magnificent field trip...
