Ugh. Late...Again.
I've always been bad at getting to places on time, especially when it's on the weekends. I found myself running down the small streets, subconsciously knowing my way around, having lived here for all of my life. My breath was fogging up in little clouds in front of me because the weather here was just below 'ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!!'. That's winter for you.
I turned a few corners and cut through a narrow alleyway until I stumbled out into a clearing. I knew where I was. I was at the top of a street I recognised - but not couldn't quite recall the name of it - not far from the quaint little coffee shop where I was meant to meet Luhan about...
I looked down at my black, faux-leather strapped watch on my wrist.
"10 MINUTES AGO?!" I yelled to the empty street in panic.
I soon gathered a steady, yet fast, running pace. Almost there! I said to myself, hoping to reach the destination without Luhan giving up on me. The cold wind hit my face with sharp, frozen lashes.
So close!! I could see the coffee shop poking out from behind some tall, concrete apartments reaching up to the sky. I smiled to myself, knowing it wasn't far. Quickly, I entered the cafe, heaving and gasping for oxygen. I looked around the shop in search for a boy with soft brown hair and equally as soft brown eyes.
"Hey! Shorty!" Someone yelled, the voice coming from my left side.
And there he was. Sitting there, all snuggly with his beige scarf tied loosely around his neck, steaming hot chocolate in hand in the small little booth in the corner. Our favourite seat.
Luhan smiled confidently, showing his straight, white teeth. I grinned back as I trotted to him. He stood up and enveloped me into a tight embrace. I inhaled his sweet scent and instantly, I felt safe.
"You're late," He huffed into my hair. "As usual."
I giggled into his neck and slowly unravelled myself from his warm hug.
"I know." I sighed, sitting down in the warm, soft seat across from him. "But it was a good reason this time."
"What's this excuse now? You forgot to feed the cat? Couldn't tie your shoes quick enough?" Luhan smirked, looking at me through a few strands of his mousy brown mop of hair.
I always loved his hair. Sometimes it was my favourite part of him. He would change the colour of his hair a lot, but he always kept it in a lovely condition.
"No!" I said in a fake, hurt tone taking off my large coat and scarf. "My mother called me this morning as I was getting ready, and you know how she gets over the phone. She just kept on tal-"
"Yeah, yeah," Luhan interrupted with laughing. "I swear I've heard this one, like, 20 times?"
"Honestly!! It happened, okay?" I put my hands up in slight surrender.
A few minutes passed until a small, dirty-blonde haired waitress in a smart, green uniform waltzed up to us.
"Hi," She said to us with a nasally tone. "What can I get you?"
"I'll have a hot chocolate, please." I asked quietly, looking down.
I felt a little self-conscious whilst she was here. Her bright blue eyes glittered and glinted in the late morning sun, her lips were full and a light pink, her long hair in a half-up-half-down hairdo.
"With whipped cream and marshmallows, please." Luhan piped up, winking at me.
"Coming right up!" The girl chirped, swirling around and sauntering off out the back.
A few seconds of awkward silence passed in what seemed like an eternity. The finally, I broke the silence...
"You didn't have to do that."
"Well I did."
"I know." I giggled and looked down. "but thank you."
"You're very welcome." Luhan giggled in response.
Then, more awkward silence. Luhan tapped the table with his fingers and looked out of the window, the light catching his chiseled features perfectly. His skin looked so clear, soft and blemish-free, I had to restrain myself from reaching out and smoothing his skin with my fingers. A couple of minutes later and the hot chocolate had arrived. As I started to sip the warm beverage, Luhan became serious.
"B-B-Bella?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing in a strange, concerned expression.
"Yep?" I replied, looking up at him, slightly confused.
He just looked at me and blinked a few times.
"You've got a little..." He trailed off, pointing to his own nose, then to mine.
Wiping off the whipped cream from my nose, I started to blush a few shades of red. Luhan became serious again.
"But, seriously," He swallowed hard. "I-I need your advice."
I hummed a response.
"I feel like I'm being...Watched." He looked over his shoulder cautiously.
I wondered if he was joking, but I soon realised he wasn't.
"Ummm..." I looked down.
"I don't know what to do," He laid his hands on his face. "I don't feel comfortable anywhere. I have this uneasy feeling in my stomach that someone - or something - is following me. Haunting me. It's like they have a way to get into my head, making me think that they're everywhere! I don't know if I'm hallucinating, but I have a feeling something bad is gonna happen."
Wow. Luhan had a lot on his plate, and he decides to come to me for help? He should know that I'm the worst at advice, especially for serious stuff. I thought of a reply in my head to try and comfort him. A joke? An 'Everything Will Be Alright'? My honest opinion?
"What've you been eating?" I laughed.
He just looked at me with a blank expression.
Ok. I'm guessing the joke didn't work. Let's try...
"Just, Don't worry about it. I'm sure it's just a phase, Lu," Then I said that damn-stupid lie. "Everything will be alright."
He huffed and looked at me. He looked as if he was about to cry. He seemed so distraught and I hated seeing him like that. I was used to the happy, funny and charming Luhan I met from day one.
"Please," He whimpered. "Help me."
