The wrinkled hag walked through the forest, a smug smile forming from her crooked and yellow teeth as she thought of her recent wicked deed.
A new little one that she had adopted had spent the entire day crying horribly, making the old witch in a rather foul mood. She always took out her emotions on the humans who dared to pass her forest and it was no different this time either. Baba Yaga was happy that she was able to guide and trick the young man that showed signs of belonging to a tribal group that lived nearby.
As time passed by and the humans evolved, she had adapted to the times as well. She especially adored children ever since the olden days, so opened up her very own orphanage named "Baba Yaga's home for Children". She used ancient magic and expanded her magical house with chicken legs on the inside, so that it could easily accommodate loads of children.
The Witch had made it so that any child that stayed there would remain untouched by the gnarled hands of age and death. This was so that the children would never leave her alone to a life of solitude. The children held great power over her moods as well. If a child cried all night and made her angry, she would roam around the forest, tricking the passersby towards their deaths. If the children danced and played and made her happy, she would go out and help the passersby roaming in her forest.
She used to kidnap beautiful children as they were born but as the times passed, the task proved to become more difficult than she had expected. Eventually, one of the children convinced her to only take away children stuck in foster homes or orphanages. She is usually disguised as a young lady wanting to adopt a child. Once she takes the child, she takes it to a secluded area before teleporting to her home in the woods.
Her magical house, now an orphanage, also has the ability to teleport between forests. Baba Yaga and her children never stay in one forest for long, as a precaution to stay out of the sight of mortals.
The forest fire in the Amazon Forest had been one of the hag's most fearful memories. Her house had moved there a few weeks before the fire and she had almost lost all hope during the fire, despondent and full of despair as the children had all gone out to play during the time the fire had begun. Luckily, she had found all the children in time and managed to escape the forest relatively unscathed.
The aged witch realized that her mind was taking a dark turn and quickly changed her mind, her mood turning happy again as she reached her beloved home. As she entered her home and closed the door, she laughed happily as she felt lots of little children hug her and start playing with her.
Baba Yaga was happy, because as long as she had her children, she would never be lonely ever again.
