On their way to Goldenrod City, our protagonists find a town with a Pokémon Center.
Entering, they immediately see a group of young children crowding around a book. "It says that I'm a Bulbasaur-type and this Pokémon Fortune Telling Book is almost always right." A little girl said to the others.
Interested, Zia bared with the thought of dealing with the tiny demons and walked over. "What's Pokémon fortune telling?" She asked them as the same girl gasped in horror, "I thought everyone knew about the Pokémon Fortune Telling Book."
"It's easy. You look up your birthday and it says what Pokémon type you are." Another girl explained. "It says that I'm a Squirtle-type." A third little girl added. "Can I take a look?" Zia asked them.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not supposed to give it to anybody." The first girl answered her. "If you want to get one, the nice old man and lady sell the over at the brand new Daycare Center." The second one told her.
~~~
"Here it is." The 'nice old lady' said with a smile as she handed the book over to Zia, "Just look up your birthday and it'll show you what kind of Pokémon type you are. And it'll tell you your Pokémon fortune."
"It's really very simple. The book might say you're a Nidoqueen-type. If you're a Nidoqueen-type and you have a Nidoqueen, you'll also have good luck." The 'nice old man' gave his own input.
"The book says I'm a Seadra-type personality so I should get a Seadra if I want to have good luck, right?" A young boy asked as he ran into the Daycare Center. "Yes, that's how it works." The lady nodded.
The boy took out a pokeball. "I wonder how I'm gonna find somebody who wants to trade a Seadra for my Golbat." He muttered. "One of our customers might love to have a Golbat." The old lady told him. "We'll keep it here in case someone with a Seadra wants to swap." The man stated as the boy gladly gave his pokeball to the couple.
They then turned back to Zia. "You see, we help trainers exchange their Pokémon too." The lady said. Zia thought it was strange that people would give up their partners because a book told them they're not going to have good luck with them unless they're the same type.
Later, the three sat down on a park bench as they flipped through the book. "I don't know how much of this I believe, but it wouldn't hurt to see what Pokémon type I supposedly am." Zia muttered as she opened the book to her birthday, June 7th.
"Apparently I'm a Croconaw." She read out the name of the Pokémon. They all thought about Nile, the way too energetic, dancing, playful water-type and compared him to Zia. There was no resemblance. "Maybe Nile is a bit more... eccentric compared to other Croconaw?" Emmy asked.
"Maybe, but it just goes to show that this thing most likely is a scam. Besides, now that I look at it, it looks like they just laid the national dex over every day in the year so the first 365 Pokémon were easily listed down the 365 days of the year." Zia explained as she realized the book really was a scam.
Having rested and restocked their supplies, the group left town and were walking along the path. "I feel bad for anyone who truly believes in that book. They're just wasting their time." Sky stated as Zia flipped through it again. "Yeah, but I guess it's fun to look at if you're not too serious about it." She muttered just as a hole appeared beneath their feet, causing them to fall into the hole.
"Prepare for trouble, we got you this time." "Now make it double, that's easy to rhyme." Two familiar voices started as they looked up to see Jesse and James in astronaut suits. Meowth soon joined them, also in one of the ridiculous looking suits.
