“I won’t give up my child, Brandon. You can’t stop me.” I said

“Luke is gonna drive my car home. I’m riding with you so I can keep an eye on you. I swear to God, when he gets out, I am gonna chop his manhood off.”

“You’re not my father. I am not gonna be one of those mothers who gives away her child.” I said

“That thing’s father is psychotic. And should I remind you that he killed our mother?”

“You don’t know him.”

“He killed our mother and put me in a wheelchair. How could you sympathize with that son of a bitch? He has no remorse, no love. Not one shred of humanity.”

“You know why I went to Italy? To lure him away from you. Knowing his obsession would take over, I let him follow me to save your ass.”

“And you come home weeks later bearing his unborn child.” Brandon said

“You’re safe, aren’t you?” I asked

“I can’t let you keep it, Jenna.”

“It’s my decision, Brandon.”

“The hell it is. How could you do something so stupid?” Brandon asked

“It just happened, Brandon. It’s my choice.”

“You are gonna give that kid a better life, and someday you’ll thank me for it, Jenn.” Brandon said, turning for a second to face me

“Not if you take my child from me.” I said

“I am not gonna let you raise that monster’s kid.”

“As my brother, you can either respect my wish, or no longer be part of my life.” I said, walking into the house angrily after helping Brandon into his wheelchair

“You know putting it up for adoption is best, Jenna!” Brandon called

“No, it’s what’s best for you.”

“Bagwell will be in jail when it’s born. It could end up being just like him.”

“I want to have this baby, Brandon.”

A FEW WEEKS LATER

“You should reconsider adoption.”

“I told you I’m not doing that, Brandon.” I said, grabbing my bag and car keys

“Wait, where are you going, Jenna?” Brandon asked

“Anywhere that isn’t here, and as far away from you as I can get right now.” I said, slamming the door behind me

“Jenna--.”

I had drove back out to Fox River. My eyes tearing up. I pull over to the side, and wipe them. I take a deep breath and imagine what my life would have been like with and without the baby.

DAYDREAM; WITH THE BABY

“Teddy, could you give me a hand? Our son is fussing.”

“Oh, come here, little man. Tell Daddy your troubles.”

“I have tried everything. Changing him, feeding him, burping him. Nothing is working. I even tried bouncing him like my mom did.”

“Come here a sec. Try rubbing his back, like this.”

“He’s finally sleeping.. I am so glad I decided to keep him. He’s brought us closer.”
