Carly's POV:

I brushed a piece of lint from my dress and twirled in front of the mirror. From down stairs I heard,

“Carly, we are ready to leave!” I hollered back,

“Coming!” I grabbed my shawl and Bible. I am Carly Richmond, the daughter of John and Hannah Richmond. My father is a minister and my mother is the organist at our church. I have three siblings, two boys and a girl. Timothy who is in collage and Mark who is eleven. I also have Samantha who is three. My life is very happy and simple. I have a great boyfriend named Jonathan and we are happy together. I am eighteen with brown and brown eyes. I love to sing. It is my life.

I took one last look to be sure there wasn't anything on my outfit and ran down the stairs. The whole family piled into the car and we soon arrived at the church. I took my place in the choir loft and waited for the rest of the members. People filtered in but I was lost in my own world. I had no need to talk to anyone. I wasn't unsociable I just didn't want to talk right now. The rest of the choir members came in and settled down in their seats. The congregation isn't more than a hundred and fifty and Father likes it that way. He says it is easier to disciple a flock that is small than a flock that is large. The service started and I sang like I never had before. It was something I couldn't live without. When we were done we sat back down and the service started. I glanced around the pews and saw someone that interested me. He was sitting on the back pew with his legs crossed and a cold expression on his face or at least what I could see of his face. One half was covered in a white mask. His hair was black combed back to perfection. He was dressed in a nice black suit. I couldn't but admire his build. He looked tall and proud. What could be seen of his face was handsome and I blushed. Suddenly he looked at me and his eyes flashed across the room. I withheld a gasp. His eyes were golden. There was something strange about this man that I didn't understand. I had been raised never to judge another and I didn't. I could only imagine his past. Why does he wear a mask? I asked myself. He looked away and I smiled slightly. He might have been strange but I liked that face and those eyes. Stop it, Carly, you have a boyfriend and he most likely won't come back. I blushed and listened intently to the sermon, putting the masked man out of my mind. When the last song had been sung I looked to where he had been and he wasn't there. I frowned. He was a strange man. I hurried down from the loft and met Jonathan at the base of the steps.

“Hey there, Carly. How are you today?” I shrugged my shoulders.

“The same as I am every day. How about you?” He pretended to think about it for a moment then said,

“Well, pretty good I guess. Hey are you doing anything tonight?” I shook my head. I knew his next question.

“Well, you want to go on a date?” I nodded and we parted as his family left. I walked out with my family and I said,

“Daddy, did you notice the strange man who was in the service today?” Father looked at me and said,

“The one with the mask. Yes, I noticed him. Do you know him?” I laughed.

“Nope, I don't. Wish he had stayed. I guest he had other things to do.” I tried not to let my family know how much he had gotten into my mind. We walked to our car and drove back to our house. I walked up to my room and looked around. I was tired and since I was to have a date with Jonathan I thought it would be best for me to get some rest. I stared at the white ceiling and formed the man's face in the ceiling.

“I wonder who you are?”
