Carly's POV:
Three weeks had passed since the blue rose incident. I had dried the rose and press it onto a page of paper. I had then laminated it with a laminating devise I had found in his office while he was gone. I didn't want to lose that rose. It was beautiful. I kept it hidden from Erik. I didn't want him to know what it meant to me because I wasn't sure.

It was late and Erik was gone for a while. He trusted me completely now. He would leave for a while and I never thought about running away. It was strange that I was happier with Erik than with anyone else. I missed my parents and siblings but I knew I would miss Erik more. I sighed and played something randomly on the piano. Suddenly I heard a car pulling up. I smiled, thinking it was Erik. I ran to the front door and gasped when I saw a policemen. I drew back from the door as the policeman broke it down. I must have been cowering because he automatically said,

“Please don't be afraid. I need to know where the owner of this house is?” I swallowed hard and tried to think up something but before I could say a word the policeman gasped.

“You look like Carly Richmond! Are you?” He walked over to me and I shuddered inwardly. I could lie and be found out or I could tell the truth and be free from Erik. I didn't want to leave though. I looked behind him and saw several more officers. I nodded.

“I am Carly Richmond.” The officers gasped.

“My dear girl, are you alright? What has your kidnapper done to you? Who is he?” I drew back and found a seat.

“Nothing, Sir. He hasn't hurt me. I don't know who he is. He never told me his name.” The policeman smiled.

“I am sorry, Carly, I shouldn't have pushed. Where is he?” I shrugged my shoulders.

“I don't know. He isn't here.” They looked at me strangely but didn't ask why I hadn't run away.

“Do you have anything that is your's here?” I nodded. I wanted to take that blue rose and a few odds and ends that Erik had bought me. He loved to give me things. I had grown happy with his gifts. He really did care what happened to me.

“Then go get it. You do want to go home right?” I nodded. It would look strange if I said no. I ran to my room and packed up. But before leaving I wrote a note for Erik explaining everything. I ran back and found them waiting for me. They hurried me to the cruiser and it was a several hours drive before I saw my parents home come into view. The officers had told them I was coming and I saw my whole family standing on the porch. I stepped out and was immediately covered in hugs and kisses. I was quickly led inside and before the questions could be asked, I said,

“I need to go to bed. This has been a hard time.” I hurried away to my room. I pulled out the sheet of paper with that blue rose on it and sighed.

“I'll miss you, Erik. I don't understand what I felt for you. I doubt I ever will. I would have stayed but to do would have put you in danger. They took me home and think that you are gone for a long while. I hope that you don't get caught. Thanks for the rose. I will never forget you and the good times I had with you.”

Erik's POV:

I stopped in shock. My whole house was surrounded by police. The only thing I could think of was Carly and the fact that she was gone. Once the police saw her then they would know who she was and she would be gone. This was her chance to be free of me. I knew deep down that I would never be able to hold her. She wasn't mine to keep. I looked down at the ground and felt one tear slip from my eyes. I hadn't cried in a long time. I didn't cry. It was a show of emotion. I wanted to die then. I knew that she probably had told everything. They would be after me. I quietly slipped away. I would see if I could make my living elsewhere. I might be able to survive on the streets again though I hated the idea. I couldn't believe that she was gone forever. She wouldn't ever want to see me again. I knew she had started to smile and act like she was glad to see me but I knew it was an act. She wanted her freedom and would do anything to get it. I dropped to my knees in the woods and let out a sob. My love and my life was gone. I would never see her again.

Carly's POV:

I laid on my bed. It was night and I couldn't sleep. Erik had taken to singing me to sleep and it was hard to sleep without that. I sighed, tossed and turned. I missed his voice and gentle ways. I hoped the police hadn't caught him. I had lied for him. I wouldn't tell another soul who he was. I had been home for three days and had been thinking about Erik every minutes. It had been during one of those days that I had realized I had fallen in love with him.

Author's Note:

Dear Readers,

I hope this isn't moving too fast. I simply couldn't think of anything for them to do while she was at his house. I know this is a big plot twist but you will understand it all in good time. I love doing this to my readers. *evil laughter*
