Note: Amaris and Nova are the same person, a person can have two names.

I checked my appearance in the mirror for the nth time this morning. I was wearing a drop shoulder white and black striped shirt tucked in a pair of light washed jean shorts. I finished the outfit with a pair of white low cut converse.

I had a small bit of makeup since going around bare faced wasn't a good option for me anymore. I let my brown hair flow down, ending just above my breasts. I combed my wispy see through bangs to keep it looking presentable. I made sure I had my phone, wallet and keys with me. I put on a black medical mask on and left the house, commuting to the city hall.

Habang nasa byahe ako, biglang may nagtext saakin. I looked at the notification and smiled. Si Finn pala. Binuksan ko ang phone ko using the fingerprint access at binasa ang message niya.

'Magkita tayo sa puregold, malapit lang yun sa sakayan papunta ng City Hall.'

I typed a reply and hit send.

'Okay lang ako. Hindi mo naman ako kailangan samahan. Hindi naman siguro ako hihimatayin.'

Right after sending the message, I immediately got a response.

'Don't jinx it. Sasamahan kita sa ayaw at gusto mo. May mask ka?' nagreply naman ako ng oo. I also took a photo of myself just to show him I was wearing a mask.

'Ingat ka lagi. I promised my aunt and your mom I'll keep you safe, lalo na ngayon. I'm responsible for what will happen to you because I'm the one who thought of this in the first place.'

'Yes sir, mag-iingat po ako. Thank you too, for not telling him anything.'

­I locked my phone and placed it back into my pocket. Napansin ko rin na malapit na kami sa puregold kaya naghanda na in ako ng pamasahe.

FLASHBACK

I pushed the snooze button for the 5th time. I didn't feel like waking up yet. It was a Saturday which was my time to just rest and the only time I was allowed to wake up late.

I heard someone open my bedroom door. I internally groaned, knowing already who it was.

"Baby girl! Wake up, you have an appointment with Dr. Kingsley." My mother said, barging in my room. I groaned again, loudly this time.

"Why do I have to have a checkup? It's just a few bruises." I said, getting up. My mom's eyes wandered around my arms, which were covered with bruises.

"I just want to make sure nothing is wrong." She said, reaching down to give me a hug. "Go get ready. We have to go in 20." She said, letting go of the hug.

"Sure. I'll be ready by then." I said. She left my room and I went to my bathroom to freshen up. I brushed my teeth and put some make up on, and by makeup, I meant lip tint and cheek tint so I wouldn't get too sick. I also put on sun screen just for UV protection.

I then went to my closet to pick out what to wear. I decided on a tan ensemble. A sleeveless dark brown V-neck top, high waist fit tan skirt and a tan cardigan to cover the bruises. I wore a pair of brown loafer type shoes with an inch heel because I was too lazy to look for other pairs of shoes.

"Ready to go?" Mom asked me while I was walking down the stairs. I nod my head, putting my phone in my pocket. We left our home and got in mom's car. She started driving to the hospital.

After numerous of tests and at least 5 hours later, the doctor finally invited me and my mom back in his office.
