Compilation of vpular's drabbles. This book basically contains very short stories.
"A drabble is a short piece of writing (usually fanfiction but sometimes original), usually no more than a 1000 words (although length is debatable) and often not be...
Everyday, at exactly 7:30 in the morning, Robbie always frequents the cafe close to his condo. His favorite spot at the cafe was a table for two at the corner, next to the window so he could see everyone who passes by.
He likes seeing people. Watching them go on with their lives oddly calms him.
The workers at the cafe already knows him. They would always greet him with warm smiles every time he comes. And he always orders the same thing. A hot, freshly brewed coffee.
He takes in the scent of brewed coffee and softly smiles as he thought, the smell feels like home.
As they served him his coffee, he noticed how the place was full. All seats were taken and people at the counter were already ordering for a take-out.
He sighs as he looks out the window. He closes his eyes and tries to remember why he was there. Ordering a cup of coffee.
He opens his eyes as when he heard a soft voice, "Hi, is this seat taken?"
He looked up to see a beautiful woman who looks a few years younger than him. She didn't seem harmful, so he nods with a small smile.
Robbie likes seeing people, but talking to them was something he's bad at.
"The coffee here tastes good, right?" the woman said.
Robbie thought that maybe she wanted to start a small talk.
I can do small talks, he thought.
"Yes, they always do.." he politely answers as he blows into his coffee.
That's when he noticed that the woman didn't actually ordered a coffee, but a fruit frappe.
"..you should try some." he added as he motions towards the cafe's menu board with his cup before drinking from it.
The woman smiles as she looked at him, "I don't really like coffee.."
He got confused and a bit curious with her statement, so he looks at her as he puts his cup down on the table.
She was still smiling at him, but her eyes tell a different story.. it looked so sad.
Before Robbie could even stare more at her eyes, she averted her gaze and looked out the window.
"I know someone who loves coffees though.." she said. And the more Robbie stared at her, the more he starts to feel something.
She looks..no. She feels familiar..
But Robbie brushes off the feeling and asks her, "Are you perhaps waiting for that person?"
The question seemed to surprise the woman as she immediately turned to look at him when he said that.
She was staring at him with eyes Robbie couldn't read. But after a few seconds, her face softens as she answers his question. "Yes.. I actually am waiting for that person.."
And that's when he finally saw a glint of longingness in the woman's eyes. Her smile was beautifully genuine too, but he didn't know why it made his heart ache.
Their supposedly light conversation turned into a full-blown conversation the both of them enjoyed.
Until the woman had to go. "I have to go now.. It was really nice seeing and talking to you." the woman told Robbie as she stood up from her seat. She gives him one last beautiful smile before she turns to leave.
Until Robbie said something that made her stop.
"It was nice remembering you.."
The woman slowly turned back to him with a shock expression.
She saw how his smile was so warm that it made her heart warm as much as it made it ache too.
"Y-you remember m-me?" she asked with a shaky voice. As if any time it'll break.
His smile was still warm but there was a bit of sadness in it.
She knows it's sadness.
Because she's been with him ever since.
Even after the accident, she's still here for him.
He looks down for a moment, then intertwines his hands together, a gesture he does when he's nervous or shy.
She heard him take in a deep breath before he looked up and looked straight into her eyes.
The smile was still on his face but it was softer this time. As if he was asking for forgiveness. Then he said,
"I don't remember your name.. But I remember that I love you.."
She stared at Robbie while tears were continuously streaming down her face. Until she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Laura, we should go now.. he still won't remember this.. But I promise, we'll come back here tomorrow." Dave, her cousin and Robbie's best friend, told her.
Robbie watched the woman leave with her friend, with a heavy heart. He really can't remember her name, but he somewhat remembered that she was someone he loved dearly.
He then noticed at the side of her table, a tissue with something written on it.
He read it and felt tears escape his eyes.
'I hope I'll remember her tomorrow..' he thought while holding on to the tissue.
Hi! I actually posted this on my twitter account months ago and thought, why not post it here too, kaya ayan! This drabble is actually inspired from this post I saw on fb.
